Given three possible outcomes, all of which would in a quite significant way affect the rest of the planet, which outcome did you choose and by extension, why?
Did you side with the Illuminati, sorting out the worlds problems through secrecy?
Did you merge with Helios, becoming practically omniscient
Did you listen to Tracer and pull the plug on it all?

I wasn't quite happy with any of my choices, but in the end I had to go with the Illuminati. Mainly as a lesser of three evils thing.
Helios seems like a good choice, but I've just seen too many movies involving real AI, and they almost all wind up going badly eventually.
Tong can take his Dark Age and shove it up his arse. I like technology just a bit too much to ever consider that.

There's actually a lot of misconceptions regarding the "Dark Age" ending. It's basically more of a liberal person's ending - the antithesis of globalisation really. (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6788) This is a good thread regarding the subject. :)
I chose Dark Age, BTW.

I chose to merge with Helios, and this is why:
Illuminati: changes really nothing. With the world being as it was, that didn't seem a good choice.
New Dark Age: Again, changes nothing long-term. Technological development is set back fifty years or so, but that's about it. Inevitably, things will change, with the same kind of development that has already happened.
Merge with Helios: Sounds dangerous, but it is something nobody has tried before. As opposed to all other choices, there is potential for real change here.

All three, a few times each. How can anyone play this game only once?
If this was real life though, I'd choose the Illuminati ending. The other 2 I thought gave too much power to one person. Merging with Helios would make you essentially God. And who is one person (who's just a cop) shouldn't decide the fate of the world by putting it into another dark age.

in a braindead moment i accidentaly voted for the new dark age, but in fact it was the illuminati ending i chose first. Just made the most sense...

I prefer the Helios ending mainly because it offers the best opportunity to do good for the world, however you want to define it. The other two just screw everyone because in the Dark Age ending, economies fall apart, people starve and a lot of people die. In the Illuminati ending, they don't seem to have good motives or ideas for the world. Although I haven't played it in a while, IIRC, the Illuminati are just intent on grabbing power, and they don't care about the world. When I merge with Helios, I have the power to fix a lot of things and improve conditions for everyone.

Interesting results so far...
The first time round, I chose the new dark age, because I didn't trust either Helios (see System Shock for my reason) or the Illuminati guy (whose name temporarily escapes me) as I associated him with the mysterious mechanic and subsequent helicopter related explosion. Though now I would normally go with the Illuminati, I still don't trust them (further augmented (sorry) by what he did to Lucius de Beers)
... I'd imagine most people have done all three at some stage, just so as to not feel they're missing out on something.

The first time I played, I did all three endings. I just did them in the order I found them and then reloaded to do the remaining ones. In general though, I merge with Helios. Although I can agree with the idea of not wanting one man to rule the world, when that man is me, I feel differently. :sly:

I guess most here played the game more than once and have seen all endings.
I chose dark age, I didn't like the idea to merge with a computer and I thought the illuminati were lunatics. ^^
Also I thought it was better to put the world into chaos so those in power and abusing it can finally get their a*ses kicked. As JC I would have started some kind of rebellion afterwards, creating a new order or something. (But we know from 1984 that it will be same thing it has ever been, so why even bother? ^^)
