Why is everyone constantly muttering Morrowind, when the buggers are past the inland sea!? And, I'm thinking that if someone wants a massively big project to do, they could make the rest of the world... or perhaps give Sotha Sil and Almalexia some like vacation temples in morrowind where they happen to be visiting for just a short while. Then BAM oh no! all the gods are dead... whatever shall the Dunmer do!? :laff:... :thumb:, :o; :D that wiz funny ;)
(at least to me anyway, then again a couple hours from now... when I wake up, it prolly wont seem all that funny anymore)

I admire the research you guys have put into this topic. Please continue to do so, and it'll be much helpfull to newcomers like me if it is bumped, or kept at the top by Moderators. Congratulations on your efforts. I really enjoyed reading this.

Well... then you'll like my new theory, it's the old one just improved upon a little, because I'm ah... Awake now :)
Anyway- Kangrenac was the chief enchanter in the times of the Dwemer. He was one of those scientists that Needed to know what makes thing's tick. Anyway, the Dwemer found the mystical Heart of Lorkhan. Kangrenac was immidiately entranced by what it could do, or become. He devised a plan to better his people. He started construction of a new god - Anumidium. (you can find the plans for Anumidium in the Central Tower at Tel Vos, which is near Vos. It'll be in the Dwemer Museum. Oh and take care around the Centurion, It's a little tempermental.) However war soon broke out. The Sixth House (House Dagoth) and the Dwemer House (Whatever that one was)
waged war with all the other great houses. (I think The minor House of Aid Sotha, or Sotha was wiped out in this. The only survivor was Sotha Sil.)
Kangrenac knew that there would be little hope for his people against such innumerable odds. He stopped work on his God, and began to devise a way to save his people from utter destruction. Thus he made Sunder, Keening, and Wraithgaurd. He used these tools to give his race immortality, however some scientists disagreed with using these tools. They stated that it would be to chaotic, yes... the entire Dwemer race could be turned into Immortals, or they could change into missahapen beasts with legs coming out of their eye sockets. (Actually I just added that for fun :cheeky: but you get the drift.) Kangrenac however went along with his plan anyway. And during the great battle somewhere in the Red Mountain area, he used those tools. And withought a single noise the entire race dissolved to dust and ash. Some could say that the Dwemer were gods for a short time, (Or immortals) but then the Heart failed to support all those souls and ate them up to replenish it's lost energy.
Anyway, now that all the dwemer are dead Nerevare and Dagoth Ur go to Kangrenacs Citadel at the Heart of Red Mountain. (Or before they die... whatever.) There the Nerevarine kills a dwarf, his best friend I think. And gives Kangrenacs tools to Dagoth Ur for safekeeping while he goes to Sotha Sil, Vivec, and Amelexia for counsel. Blah blah blah, stuff happens. And Nerevare is murdered by the Tribunal gods. More blah, they use the tools agains't the oath they took to Azura. And then become gods like Dagoth Ur has. Azura in her rage says Nerevare will return and curse's all the Chimer with black (It actually looks blue) skin. Vivec says that everyhting's fine, and people settle down. Now the Chimer have become the Dunmer or 'Dark Elves' that we know today.

Lol, nice summary man. But, the war was waged upon the Dwemer because somehow Lord Indoril Nerevar found out about the construction of the new God, and the use of the Heart of Lorkhan. He warned the Dwemer King, but the King denied it (he had no idea what Kagrenac was doing..what a dumbass.). And, at the way end once the King was dead, Nerevar and Dagoth Ur found out what really happened, and realized it was Kagrenac all along.
Anyways, I got all this information from the guy who started this topic in the first place (you know who you are), and Stryder.

Oh, my bad. I meant to say Forsythe, not you, Slith. You were the creator...I'm such a retard. Anyways, my e-mail address is ZenkMander@AOL.com, not the one I used for registration (messed up on registering the first time, and made myself look like a 13 year-old), and couldn't go back..).

War was waged on the Dwemer only. It doesn't make sense to have House Dagoth fighting with the Dwemer, while their leader fights on the Chimer side.
The only House that ended up being wiped out was House Dagoth. This would have happened after Dagoth Ur went crazy etc etc.

The Wraithguard, Sunder and Keening are tools that tap into the heart's power. Since destroying the Heart doesn't kill the Tribunal, nor does using the tools make you vanish, this leaves a few options:
- As you say, the Heart couldn't support the number of souls and 'ate' them.
- The Aedra and Daedra punished them for using the Heart in that manner.
- They actually Trancended the Gery Maybe and left the Mundus and joined with the Eight Divinities.

:thumb: Nerevar says his friend Dumac Dwarf-King on the plains outside Red Mountain.
What actually happens to Kangrenac isn't made clear (He was either killed or vanished somehow). Either way Dagoth Ur is told to look after the tools while Nerevar seeks counsel about what to do with the tools.
Now, I don't actually think that Nerevar was killed by the Tribunal. (See previous entries in this post). But Dagoth Ur is driven deeper into Red Mountain and the tools are taken, and later used, by Vivec, Sotha Sil and Almalexia.

Btw, here's the tidbit that describes House Sotha's fall:
Quote:
At Ald Sotha, the daedric ruins northeast of Vivec City, Vivec rescued Sotha Sil, the only survivor of the minor House Sotha, from the armies of Mehrunes Dagon.
