From what I can tell, the Dunmer never worshipped the Aedra, instead they worshipped the Daedra. When the Tribunal came, Three Daedra [Boethiah, Azura, Mephala] joined with the Tribunal, while Four Daedra [Molag Bal, Malacath, Sheogorath, Mehrunes Dagon] refused. These Daerda are known as the 'Four Corners of the House of Troubles'.
As to why Azura would change the Chimer to Dunmer because of the Tribuanl actions then join with them is anyones guess. Perhaps she needed to appear on their side so she could help the Nerevar Re-incarnate.
Red-
The Tribunal are made up of Almalexia, Sotha Sil and Vivec, which is where ALMSIVI comes from. (ALMalexia, sotha SIl and VIvec).

Perhaps most of her worshippers were good-ish, and she'd lose a hunk of her power base if they were forbidden to worship her (which, being 'good', they would stop). The bad daedra, of course, attract 'bad' people... and thus don't care if they're accepted as legal or not.
Edit: Oh, and Red's question was 'where', not 'who'; I don't know that anyone but the developers know that, Red. I read Sotha Sil was off on a private island compound somewhere outside the game's scope, but I'm pretty fuzzy on that one.

In the 'Ayleid Creation Myth' there is the following line:
'The blood of Anu became the Eight Aedra.'
This suggests that the Eight Divinities are the Aedra. Also, in the 'Cyrodil Creation Myth', there is the following:
'These Aedra, the Gods of Men and Beast Folk, led by Akatosh...'
Which pretty much confirms it.
This means that the Aedra are Akatosh, Julianos, Arkay (Although Arkay is said to have been a man once), Kyraneth, Mara, Dibella, Stendarr and Zenithar.
Oops! Perhaps I should learn to read huh? ;)
Sotha Sil is in the hidden clock-work city of Sotha Sil on mainland Morrowind, while Almalexia is in Almalexia on mainland Morrowind.

Actually, the dwarves live on, kindasorta. Was going door-to-door in Dagon Fel & came across some unlocked hut belonging to someone whose name I don't recall but whom was described as a 1/2 dwarf. Was on my way back to the Azura Shrine so haven't yet entered to have a peak at this character. 1/2 dwarf + 1/2 what = what?
Forsythe on 25/7/2002 at 04:50
Hmm... I went trolling thru Dagon Fel and all its buildings and found no unique 'Creatures' (any Dwarf would have to be a creature, as NPCs have to be player-useable races; I think it's also true they have to have player-useable faces) By any chance could you dig up a name?
Incidentally, there is a living Dwarf. Yagrum Bagarn's in a sorry state though; he's in Tel Fyr's Corprusarium as an inmate, and that's the only reason he's still alive. (Among other things, corprus grants total immunity to aging [or so we're told]). Additionally, his lower half is that of a spider centurion; let's just say he's had better days.

I'm jumping onto this thread a little late but Striker's post on the official forums peaked my interest so I thought I would check the thread out.
First off the Dunmer/Chimer have never worshiped the Aedra. Thats the whole reason they broke away from the Altmer in the first place. Secondly I see your character in Morrowind to be simply a champion of Azura and not really Indoril Nerevar reborn. If you were really Nerevar reborn surely Azura wouldn't bring you back as an Outlander. Also you dont seem to know you are him so I find it unlikely that you are.
Another thing I dont really think that Boethia Azura and Mephala actually alighned themselves with the Tribunal. I think all that "anticipations" stuff was made up by the Tribunal to try and make the transition from the old traditions to the new smoother for the common mer. I mean have you seen Boethia's shrine, do you really think he cares about the Three who let his temple go to the crapper.
One last thing here is a post that I made in a similar thread on the official forums defending the Tribunal for what they did.
"Ultimately I think they did what they had to do for the overall good of the Dunmer. I think when they first battled Ur in Red Mountain they realized that the tools had warped Ur beyond saving and that he would later become a threat to the soon to be Dunmer. Also the Dunmers relationship with the Daedra was not always a prosperous one. So seeing that there was a need for not only persons of power to face the threats of the land but also new figures to look to for leadership, the Tribunal used the tools to fit those needs.
Think about it if the Tribunal was not around during the wars with the Imperials Morrowind would be alot different than it is now. There would have been no Armistice meaning most likely that the Dunmer would be under strict Imperial rule, instead of the let them rule themselves set up they currently have. Also there would have been noone to stop the invasion of Ada'Soom, since Almalexia is specificly credited with stoping the invasion (with a little help from the Underking).
In my opinion their one mistake truly was that they considered themselves gods and tried to pass it off (at least Vivec did) that they were always gods. If they had just played the "we are really powerfull ruler guys" role like they should have instead of acting like divinity they would be ok in my book. "
Sorry for such a long post.:cheeky:

Yeah, you meet the last Dwemer during the main quest. Not 100% sure of the validity of his claims... he's probably insane from the blight! :D

Welcome, Nazz ;) I agree on most everything you said, but I've got to quibble over a few things you said...

Also you dont seem to know you are him so I find it unlikely that you are.If you really were Nerevar reborn, wouldn't being born an outlander be a really cruel dig at the xenophobic shell most Dunmer walk around within? Azura can be a sly and very nasty one when she wants to get a point across (ie: pull your heads out!). As to not knowing... this one can swing either way, depending solely upon the player's point of view (you have the choice of declaring, at the end, that you are Nerevar reborn). Me, I think that's a very clever and subtle point but regretfully acknowledge that most will miss it.

And what would happen after you have become a god?
Well I'd hope for a nice cut scene and perhaps some applauds from my loyal supporters.
Quote:
You build a temple? How will it look?
I might take over Vivec's it depends on how much work the designers want to put into the expansion.
Quote:
What will people's reaction be?
Some wont mind (imperials), some will hate me (the ALMSIVI temple), some will quite like it (daedra cultists?).
Quote:
And what about the Daedra?
I don't think they'll care much I'd just be replacing Vivec after all.
Quote:
More specifically how will Azura react? She probably isn't interested in seeing someone she sponsored and helped trying to repeat what the Tribunal and Dagoth ur did.
Well...that's a good point it depends how the designers view the situation; Azura may well have intended this from the beginning and she wants you to be the new head of a religion based around the worship of the Deadra and more specifically her. You could become a 'god' but subservient to Azura being a sort of figurehead on the mortal plane. If Azura doesn't like what you've done she might turn you and all the Dunmer green or something...
Quote:
How about your magicka/health/fatigue?
That's another good point and I understand that becoming a god may well unbalance the game but I don't think anything necessarily should happen to your stats. Vivec is a god and powerful but you as a mortal can kill him so morrowind 'living gods' aren't the all powerful entities they are in other mythologies.
Quote:
What meaning will the quests you haven't done yet have?
Quote:
What if you have not yet risen to the top of a house or guild you are a member of?
Well you should have thought of that before starting the main quest!
No but seriously you are making some really valid comments and it would be pointless for me to try to argue the point.
I'm not a designer of Morrowind but I just thought that it would be cool if there were an alternative ending that you could take if you didn't like the idea of being a pawn of vivec/azura/the imperials/Dagoth Ur.
Forsythe Striker - Thanks for the information concerning the other two members of the tribunal.
Cheers :)
