I too have all the Hitman games. Didn't play much of 1 and 3, but finished 2 and loved it. Although they're all very hard, I wonder how ghostable they are. But that's another thread :)
Speaking of the graphics, I first played SC1 on my old PC which had a GeForce 2 Ultra, and now playing it on my new computer with a GeForce 6800 Ultra, I'm noticing some anomalities. I don't know why, but for instance in the first level I quite clearly remember when you go in the square into the little crawlspace, there are these moths or something fluttering around a light bulb. They cast shadows on the opposite wall. I remember being very impressed by that back then. Playing through the game now, I didn't see that shadow, although I have all the details set to maximum. Maybe there are some other effects and shadows I'm missing out on, I don't know. Are the spotlights in the minefield supposed to have beams or not, for example?

Damn. I'll take some shots later, when I get home. But I did not see the beams (making it harder to cross the minefield). I have latest (or close) nVidia drivers for GeForce 6800 Ultra :(

I think the place you wanted me to check on is a bit later on, as I'm still up above those three pesky guards.
No, it's right after the place you took the screeshot. When you go inside, and go down the stairs.
Strange thing with the beams though. I think neither I have them on my ATI PC. I'll ask you for some screenshots in specific places if you don't mind, I'm kinda curious about these graphic anomalies...
btw. here's a shot from the same stairway, but on the NVidia card. As you can see, no bugs:

We'll get back to graphical matters in a moment but maaan... I'm having a hell of a time trying to ghost this. It took me a good 10 minutes or so to actually time the drop from the ceiling right - often they'd see or hear me, and sometimes they'd turn around. Anyway, after countless times I managed to time it right so they wouldn't turn around and I quietly made my way up into the freezer, adding a bit of a run at the doors. But this isn't as hard as this room I'm in now, with two guards and a turret. I'm past the first guard and I'm on the left side of the room, right in front of the turret, which is behind a cabinet of some sort, or something, with the second guard on my right. I go in the left corner, while the guard is by the turrent and I jump up and hang there until he clears me and then I pull up and drop down to the turrent. I only have enough time to deactivate it, and the guard is back and shooting me (how the hell can they see in this fog?). I tried doing this sequence as fast as I can but just as I deactivate the turrent and try going into the next room, he's on his way back and sees me. If I deactivate the turrent, there's nowhere to hide, and I can't go back because he also sees me on top. What to do?

Well, I did it exactly as you described. I jumped up the "cabinet", and was hanging there until the guard started walking towards the entrance (where you came from),* and then pull myself up, drop down, deactivate the turret and crouch run to the connecting hallway.
* I think the trick is here. You have to pull yourself up the right moment. I think you can do it when the guard is near you, maybe even earlier. You should have enough time for it. I did it twice from two tries, with 7-10 frame/sec, so keep trying... :)

If I pull up too soon, he sees me. I'm not sure at which point it's "safe"... Another problem is that before dropping down, no matter what I do I lose several seconds, while Sam grabs a railing and hangs there.
