In your opinion, how does the game compare to the earlier titles and especially to Chaos Theory?

I played the first couple of Blacklist levels and thought it was very good, as far as the "next-gen" SC goes. It's all during the day (maybe some missions later will be at night?), so it's mainly cover-based. I still love the SC name and I'll play them as long as they'll make them, but this is certainly not SC1, which made me start this thread in the first place eight years ago (holy crap!), not CT.

Sorry for the one year bump :P
I'm currently recording a ghost-ish walkthrough for Splinter Cell (SAR/the original). Just completed Defense Ministry, and looking forward to the GFO Oil Rig as a nice challenge. Last time I played the game, I went through KOing almost everyone and found it fairly easy. This time, I haven't KOed anyone except Grinko's driver (and three guys in the training mission, lol :P). Once all the missions are complete, I'll put them on YouTube, with text commentary (think v4lor149). I'm trying to get through with:
- minimum KOs
- no kills (except Nikoladze)
- without being detected (hopefully - not optimistic about Kalinatek)
- no alarms (I think it's possible - and by alarms I mean the ringing klaxons, not alerts, which are the distraction things)
- minimum number of shots fired (this is a loose guideline - I used five in the Ministry* when it's possible to get through with only one or two)
So, what do you guys think?
* - Shooting out the light to pass the camera before Nikoladze's office is theoretically the only bullet you need to fire, but I used four to shoot out the lights in Nikoladze's office (one bullet per light and a missed shot).

Does anyone know if the PS3 version is still borked? I couldn't find any info on patches for "Classic Trilogy."

Oil Refinery done with clean stats except for KOing Ivan, currently on the first area of CIA Headquarters. Sam gets the SC-20K in this mission, right? I remember needing it a lot for Kalinatek which is up next.
Also, a request. Anyone have save files for these sections?
- Right at the start of the second area of the Defense Ministry (before the two guys in the elevator come down) or before the rappelling section on the roof
- Before you chase the technician through the refinery
I want to re-record the first, and experiment with the second, and I'd rather not play through the whole mission just to get to these bits.
EDIT: Yeah, I got the SC-20K. Also, found a not-ghost-y but very cool and well-timed way to sneak through the CIA server room without KOing anyone or being seen. Details on demand.
EDIT 2: So I've run into some trouble. After exiting the server room, there's a single guy patrolling up and down who refuses to face away right opposite you. How do I get past him?

Double posting to bump this up to the top :P
And also to say that I've finished CIA, after discovering an incredibly useful exploit that allows me to bypass the guard in the alley at the end (the one before the security guard you have to take out) -
again, details on demand. The main thing that annoyed me was the guard on the balcony overlooking the van; he kept spotting either Dougherty's or the KO'ed guard's body :/ I finally dumped Dougherty's body under the awning, grabbed the guy you need to take out, put his body under the awning as well, and then took Dougherty to the van.
Since my video is out, might as well give it away: Get on the roof, and drop to the ground from one of the light fixtures. You can do it while carrying Dougherty - check out the video. EDIT:
Ten days later ... I'm now all the way up to Chinese Embassy Revisited - just got into the embassy proper and dropped to the servers in the basement. Abattoir was a total pain (the minefield, the freezers, and the stables were the problem - the basement shootout was surprisingly easy once I remembered that the guards were all scripted), but I managed to get through with no damage from turrets. Now I have the Presidential Palace to look forward to - one of my favourite missions. And then I'll take on the DLC/bonus missions.
EDIT: 21st August
I've completed all the story missions, and I'll start recording the bonus missions after an initial run of each one. I'm planning to upload the videos over the course of this weekend, maybe spilling over to next week, and I'll probably have the bonus missions done uploaded by the end of the month. Start watching (

EDIT: 24th August
Finished making the videos for Kola Cell and Vselka Infiltration, and finished my initial run of Vselka Submarine. I thought it was going to be horrible - until I discovered another exploit :P you'll see what I mean in my video.

This is great, thanks for reviving this thread. For some pointers that you asked about check the first few pages of this thread.

Oh, no problem. I got into Splinter Cell through Conviction last year, was disappointed by Blacklist (it's been over a year since I started it and I just reached the Airfield mission last month - it just fails to keep me interested) and decided to go back and check out the older games.
I've actually finished my whole playthrough. The bonus missions are done, but I'll upload them only around the end of this month. I'm also trying to see if I can find a copy of Pandora Tomorrow to record next.

This thread reminds me that I played through Blacklist earlier this year, tho I had to think about it for a moment to remember anything about it. Uh... I think I liked it though! Great production values, it's all very slick. The gameplay's alright. And the brief first person sections were surprisingly fun.
