Hey thanks for the speedy reply. I'll try that out as soon as my SATA-to-USB adapter arrives.
As far as Vista, so far it's great. Don't know what all the fuss is about. To each their own though.

Well I'm a couple of levels into Double Agent and I must say I'm enjoying it so far. The duality is an interesting angle and it plays like the classic Splinter Cell. Although I'm not sure how SC5, Conviction, will work, as they seem to be abandoning stealth altogether for Hitman-like disgusie and things.
Oh and with the new computer SC4 at long last plays as it should, fast and pretty!

I found that level (the snowy one) to be the best, or rather the most bearable in the game. Check in once you finished it, I'm curious what you think about it.

I'm now almost done with the game and have enjoyed all the levels so far. I'm on the African levels, having just passed the whole spying on the ceiling bit. I think this is a rather good game; I suppose all the backlash at the time of release was due to people mainly not able to run it properly. Now that I have serious horsepower, the game runs beautifully. The only blah parts are the JBA HQ levels, but it's fun sneaking around restricted areas.
I haven't been keeping track of my stealth stats, but the further I go, the better they are, overall. I'll have to replay and ghost it (or attempt to) later.
As far as individual missions, let's take a look so far:
Mission 1: Iceland - Obviously an intro mission, so nothing special. I'd say the worst of the game.
Mission 2: Penitentiary - Not bad, but again, nothing special, as it's almost like a second intro mission.
Mission 3: JBA Headquarters - Meh. Other than being able to get into restricted areas, all of these are dull.
Mission 4: Sea of Okhotsk - This is Splinter Cell! One of the best missions in SC4 and maybe even the series.
Mission 5: China - Another excellent classic Splinter Cell mission.
Mission 6: JBA Headquarters - See #3.
Mission 7: Mexico - Another ship mission, but rather a different feel. I'd say, third best mission thus far.
Mission 8: JBA Headquarters - See #3.
Mission 9: Congo - This is where I am now, halfway done, I guess. Daytime mission, so quite different. But not bad.

Well, I have a lot more problems with the game than the bugs and performance, but I've cried enough already. However, let me do a mission by mission review, just like you:
Iceland: There is snow, there is darkness, plays like Splinter Cell should, but ultimately very short. If I focus on the gameplay and don't pay attention to the actual story and events, I really like this level. Number 2.
Prison: It was too short and ... could have been a lot better. I don't like it.
JBA HQ: Yes these are definitely "Meh" :)
Okhotsk: Yup it was awesome. Been waiting for a snowy mission since SC1 (Shipyard doesn't count :)). Number 1.
China: A good one - unfortunaly it had a lot of graphical glitches so I couldn't enjoy it as much. Number 3.
JBA HQ: ...
Mexico: The idea was not bad, but it really makes no sense to have this mission in daytime.
JBA HQ: ...
Congo: Not bad, but I generally don't like this "running between them while they shoot at each other" style. Has it's moments though.
By the way, I liked how they improved the scoring system - on the hardest difficulty, if you get 100%, you ghosted the level.

Iceland I didn't really like. Don't know why, I guess because it's so short. You can pretty much run through the whole level. What were your ghosting stats like, Malleus?

100% on the hardest difficulty on every level except for the very last one (JBA Bunker) on which I stabbed everyone :)
poroshin on 17/8/2007 at 13:42
Stabbed? Must you stab?

No, I just had to relieve myself of frustration. :) By the way that level looks quite hard to ghost, but as I said, I haven't tried ... so it's up to you. :)
EDIT: Oh, now I just remember, I didn't get 100% on the mexican level because I broke a lock (the door leading out of the casino - I didn't have time to pick it because the guards would've seen me). But it was 100% on every other map.
poroshin on 17/8/2007 at 13:59
Strange, I had no trouble with that lock. But I did cause a slot machine to malfunction with the pistol and they went to investigate. By the time they were back I was gone :)
