Remember that the only one you _have_ to kill in the whole game, is Nikoladze. Every other kill can be avoided. A bit tricky, but you can KO the guys near the first wall mine in Kalinatek part2. And as for the eight assassins on the roof (two groups of three and the last two)- that's what airfoil rounds and sticky shockers are for. You are never forced to kill anybody in this game, except for Nikoladze at the very end...

Yes I know that. But it's different from KOs though.
I will redo Kalinatek after I'm done with the game, to see if it can be done stealthier, including sneaking past or KOing the assassins.

I've not even completed the game: the place where I got stuck (it was ages ago when I last played the game), was some sort of cattle pen where there was awful lot of civilians(?) and after a while, there comes ~>10 terrorist/bad guys to shoot everyone dead.
So, if I couldn't even finish that place, how could one possibly ghost it?

You could make an exception for unskipable action sequences. I'm not sure if you have enough foil/tazer ammo to do that part non-lethal, but I'm sure you could do it without them spotting you if you put mines in the right places. I could be wrong though since I always had one or two left over after the mines blew up. Huuurm but yes that's lethal.
Would anyone be interested in a MGS3: Snake Eater thread similar to this one?

Did you ghost up to that point though? As you can see from this thread, and my progress, the game is very much ghostable, except on some rare occasions.

Is this a ghostable game? And is it available for PC? I've heard about the Metal Gear games before, but gotten the impression that apaprt from some minor stealth elements, they're not very sneaky, much less ghostable...

As ghostable as the SC games at least. There are some boss fights and actiony parts once in a while. Its about what you'd expect from a good spy movie. One parts stealth, one parts action. I know for a fact you can beat them all with no alerts and no kills at least.

Only the first and second ones. I don't recommend it though. They're buggy and the controls are shit.

MGS and SC are pretty similar in terms of ghosting. The only difference is that Sam needs to sneak to survive, and Snake can take 100 30.06 to the crotch...
Both are great games though :p

Not on Extreme he can't. That's where the real fun is. :)

I stopped my ghosting through Splinter Cell for now. Will take it up next week. Need a break. That last area in Kalinatek pissed me off. I guess I didn't notice how unfair it was when I wasn't trying to ghost the game when I first played it.

I checked the CIA server room, and I could complete the objective there without KOing any of the two maintenance workers, and without any of them noticing you. I had to shoot into the wall though, for distraction...
