Strangely, there's nothing to suggest these are SC5-related pieces of artwork. The archive contains only a single file related to SC, that of a SC5 logo, presumably, Splinter Cell: Conviction. We'll see... They do look great.

Hey guys.
I've been playing SC PT and probably half way through it, but noticed in one of the earlier threads here that Malleus suggested the game Cold War. Well I found it on ebay for .95 cents so picked it up.
I tried the demo when the game first came out and liked it, but the game got horrible reviews so I forgot about it until reading this thread. Anyhoo, it arrived today and I was going to install and noticed that it uses Starforce.
Malleus, have you (or anyone for that matter), had a problem with Starforce? I have played a couple of games in the past with it, and didn't have a problem until I installed SS2 a couple of months ago. I couldn't get SS2 to run until I uninstalled the Starforce drivers, and lets face it a lot of people won't run any game with it, as some people claim that it can really screw up your comp.
Now I'm not sure if I want to install the game.
What do you guys think?

I honestly don't know. I had to throw out my secondary DVD-drive because it was having trouble recognising any CD or DVD at all. May be due to starforce, maybe not.
Deamon tools still runs with non-starforced games.
I've never had anything noticable happen other than the annoying wait while starforce checks the disk though.
You should decide for yourself, but it's definitely a calculated risk.

PT has been lot of fun.
Only thing is, I had to kill a guy while escaping from the sub mission. On the way out as soon as you get to the bottom of the stairwell, there are a bunch of guys that seem to magically see you. I shot a smoke bomb on the first group of guys but every time I tried to advance I'd get killed by the group at the very end of that hallway. Plus I was too far away to sticky shock them.
How did you guys do that?
In some ways better than SC1, especially all the rooftop stuff and I absolutely loved the whole Jerusalem level, and now that I'm thinking about it, the jungle levels as well. I'm now starting the TV station mission with only that one kill, so for me that's good lol. Of course a whole bunch of KO"s, but I don't have the patience to truely ghost the game.
There are so many situations in both SC1 and 2 that I can't see how you could ghost them, so again, my props to you guys that do.

Didn't finish ghosting SC1 (I'm near the end anway). Finishing SC3 now in preparation for SC4, which I just ordered tonight and should have in a few days.
P.S.: Malleus, have you heard anything about a possibility of Splinter Cell: Essentials for the PSP being ported to PC?

No, and I don't think it will ever happen. Just being realist.:(
Oh, and don't even think about not finishing the older SCs ghosting!:p :cheeky:

Sounds promising, but I think it'll take a long time before they make a decent emulator - so I won't be holding my breath right now... :)

It's just that it's so unfair, having to buy that stupid PSP with a tiny screen to pay what looks like a very ncie game (albeit with past missions), but using the SC1 engine, which is the best of all the SC titles.
