Thanks for your kind words, michaelg :cheeky:
It's not a matter of "better gamers", in my opinion - just patience. It's more realistic this way anyway, right?
And before you ask, Malleus, nope, I'm still stuck at the whole library/elevator thing at the end... :(

Don't worry about it...
If you're stuck because you can't figure out how to do it, then load up the Kola Cell levels, and try them. Give the Palace level a rest for a while (and update your stats ;) - they're somewhere here).
If you're stuck because you don't have time for playing ... well, I'm afraid I don't have any constructive ideas for that situation... :(

You're right Poroshin. At least as far as being more realistic. It's making me slow
way down and I'm enjoying it more than my first time through. And this time because of going so much slower, I'm getting into the story which is actually pretty good.
The other good part is the graphics. I had an FX5200 card when I first played SC which isn't a very good GPU. Now with an X700 Pro I'm able to max out graphics at 1024 X 768, and the game looks good even by todays standards.
So all in all, I'm having a blast with the game and only at Kanlinatek so I believe I've still got a ways to go if I remember correctly.

Make sure to read all the back posts - Malleus and I had a lively discussion of most of SC1. And yes, the graphics in SC1 are great!

I just went through a bunch of the old posts and I'm glad to hear it really is impossible to truely "ghost" the game.
I have had an extremely tough time just playing with no kills.
I just now finished Kalinatec and getting through that took me over an hr and a half. It's funny how sometimes it looks like it might be impossible to do certain things, but when you sit and think about it, it does seem like there's always a way, at least so far.
But man, the very last part of Kalinatec was ridicuously hard and I actually amazed myself that I even did it. I usually play a game and only reload if I die, but I'm starting to become obsessed with making it through the whole game with no kills, so if I try something and it doesn't work, I will reload. Kind of feels like cheating, but I HAVE to do this!
However I still refuse to start a level from the beginning to regain lost health, so there's been many a time already that I've been desparately looking for a health pack. This adds a lot of tension to the game, and making it a whole lot more fun than my first time through. And there are MANY places I've never seen before simply because when you kill everything in sight, the game isn't really that tough. So therefore I'm finding health packs and ammo and such, in places I'd never seen before in the game.
Good stuff!

I'm having a bit of a hard time ghosting Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I have all the missions all the way down to the Bath House at 100% success completion on Expert, but the end of the Bath House level seems to prevent me from getting anything better than an 81%.
I have all the primary, secondary, and opportunity objectives done, but when the fighting begins after eavesdropping on Shetland, it seems impossible to remain unseen (you'll be identified as an enemy, check your stats at the end of the mission).
So, at the end, I end up with 4 times being identified as an intruder, and one body found (after disarming the second bomb in the furnace room, second group of ISDF guys come in).
EDIT: I haven't given the last level a try yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to score a 100% success rating on that. Oh, and the mission in Seoul was killer. :p

Yeah, that must be the most difficult level to ghost in any game ever. I only got 97% or something and never bothered to get it up to 100% on expert.
The hardest part is what you just described: the second bomb defusal. IIRC, you must time it perfectly when climbing up so that you don't get seen when you pull yourself up, and immediately airfold/stickyshock the 2 guys running forward under you, their back turned. I think there was some way to make them come there slower, so you have time to pull yourlsef up before they come running, I think it was shooting the light above the door you come in the place from.
Come to think of it, I can't remember how many comes after the last bomb defusal, but the last one coming from the door where Shetland escaped is pretty nice to get knocked down with a door. :)
Overall, it's pretty near impossible.

The Bathhouse level.
The first place when you can get identified as an intruder, is the vent when you overhear shetland talking with kaneda. You have to stay back in the vent to avoid this detection. The other problematic space is the bomb diffusal. Avoiding detection is pretty easy (just shoot a cam at the first stairs and you can check the location of the enemies), avoiding bodies found is not so hard either (put the body of the first guard under the catwalk, behind a boiler or whatever, and the bodies of second two guards need to be placed in a location where the last guard doesn't see them).
Getting through without KOs is the hardest, but it's possible. You have to use sticky cams to distract the guards. I've done that level 100% with all 0s in the stats...:cheeky:

No way. When I tried that, they shot sticky cameras the second they see them (and they have infra-, night, whatnot-vision, so there is no place to hide). You are either lying or not human ;)

This is a little off topic, but I have a renewed interest in the Splinter Cell series because I saw this ghosting post here, and have been playing SC1 the last week or so.
Anyway, I was browsing the web and found what I believe is the MIN system requirements for SC Double Agent as posted on UBI's site.

If you scroll down to the bottom you'll see the specs needed for the game.
This seems a bit insane to me. Guess my Athlon 2700+, gig of Ram and X700 Pro won't be playing this game.
