Gad, you're pretty hardcore about this. I gues you just skipped the part where you had to get information about where
Lacerda was staying?
How did you do the bilgepump area?
You can get 5 crates without alerts though (if I remember correctly). The one I missed that didn't cost an alert was right after you get through the engine room (the one that blows up if you fire a gun in it). You see stairs, but what you might have missed (I certainly did) was a small hallway to the right. There's a guard there, but he can be evaded.
I finished the bank too, so I'm past the part where I stopped the first and only time I played it.
Things went (
http://img87.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mis34hh.png) smoothly, except for the fact that I had to look up what to do next when all I need to do was climb up the damn pipe outside.
I had to get an alert (suspicion) twice when I disabled the lighting outside the bank to get past (in and out).
I avoided knockouts by hacking everything in sight, and using the pipe outside to avoid the laser-areas. Shutting down all the cameras helped too.
That tripwire in the vault entrance took me by surprise, by the way.
heh, links still show up in a spoiler
You can get the location of Lacerda from the control room outside or whatever that place is called, without distracting anybody ... you can use the computer near the sitting guard without him noticing it's not easy, but it can be done (by the way he doesn't appear until you get the info on his location).
The bilgepump area: If I remember correctly, you just have to OCP the light once, and activate the pump + move past the guards in the given time.
Good job with the fifth crate!
I'll update my original post with the Bank level stats ... not much to read, since it's done with absolutely no alerts ;) , and all objectives completed. I didn't OCP any light on my way out, and moved unseen, so all the outside guards remained calm.

Did you OCP the light above the door, or shoot it?

Is this on expert? On PC?

The light above the door - neither, I just waited for the right moment and went in. By the way, I didn't fire a shot thoughout the whole game...
It was on expert (of course) and on the PC version.

Whoa, that's awesome! Thank you for this info. :)
Now I definately need to get back to this game..

It's not hardcore. It's realism. An agent like Sam Fisher (if such agents exist in real life) wouldn't run around during his mission, shooting everyone he sees. He would try to make sure nobody knows he was ever there. That's the point of ghosting, in my opinion. To make the game (an unreal experience any way you look at it), as real as possible. The player should be SCARED to alert the NPCs.
By the way, guys, I really don't think spoilers are necessary in a thread like this. This is a discussion thread, so plot points will come up.

I agree, but that's not what I meant. What I meant was, an agent like Sam Fisher wouldn't OCP a light, whistle, then wait for the guard to come and investigate, OCP the light again, and then jump behind him, all while his buddies are very likely investigating the whistling too.
That's just too much damn risk/work for someone like him to take. Really, knockouts wouldn't work as well as in this game either, so he would most likely just kill the sleeping guy guarding the first door on the boat.
Oh wait, I'm discussing what a fictional character would and wouldn't do. Never mind.

Spoilers are for ghosting hints/tips/stats.
Btw, I never looked at this ghost challenge as anything realistic. I'm just totally obsessed with SC1-2-3, and looked for a way to play it differently. Ghosting is fun just because of the feeling that "I'm there, but nobody knows it". It's cool ... maybe that's why I sneak around IRL too, sometimes  :cheeky: .

Well after a very prolonged absense, I loaded my last savegame, and finally progressed in my SC1 ghosting. The area where I last quit was excruciatingly hard to ghost. I'm talking about the area in the second part of Chinese Embassy, where you have to get into the keypadded door that the colonel opens, and then he stands in the doorway of the next room. Malleus, I did pretty much what you wrote, but it took me quite a few tries.
The rest was pretty standard. Now I'm onto Georgia again - the last level. The beginning was rather easy (avoiding dogs in the courtyard was fun), but now that I'm inside and past the large "museum" room, this is where I stopped again... So bright, and so many armed guards.
Oh well, will continue soon :)

Cool! Don't forget to update your stats (mine are on the third page).
