Yes, forgot him, sorry! But unavoidable knockouts like this that are built-in, I don't think they should count really...
Malleus on 17/10/2005 at 17:14
No, they don't count, but you should still mention them! It's not always obvious, and I'd like to know :)

Let's see if I can post my stats so far. Should've done this as I went on, but I'm doing this from memory, so I'll edit this post, should there be any inaccuracies.
Police Station: 1 KO (the cop in the top computer room)
Defence Ministry: 2 KOs (driver [must KO], retinal scanner colonel [must KO])
Oil Rig: 1 kill (last soldier - will redo), 1 KO (technician [must KO])
CIA HQ: 5 KOs (both server room techs - will redo, keycode guy [must KO], Dougherty [must KO], guard by the truck [must KO])
Kalinatek: 10 kills (you pretty much have to), 3 KOs (first keycode guy [must KO], second keycode guy [must KO], Ivan's guard (impossible not to KO))
Chinese Embassy: 0 KOs
Will upadate with Kalinatek and the rest of the levels as I go on. Definitely have to redo the Oil Rig and CIA levels, but other than the Police Station cop, all KOs are built into the game, and cannot be avoided. So, pretty good, I think :) I will even try and see if I can't spook that Georgian cop into leaving the room long enough to get the data from the computer.

By the way, how did you get past the guard in Nikoladze's office (in the Defence Ministry)?

This was a fun part indeed. Took me a long time too. I guess I didn't ghost it, technically, because when you break the glass, the guy gets fully alerted and the action music plays. No way around that. However, this is what I did: I lowered myself just above the window and shot the glass. It broke and the guy started running around, yelling "I'm being shot at!" etc. He went from his location to the left side of the office and then the back, while I dropped below the window and quickly shot the lights on the ceiling, in front of me and to the left. While the guy was still in the back of the office, I climbed into the window and quickly hid in the left corner. He calmed down somewhat and from the dark corner I shot the right light, making the office almost completely dark. As he went to check that broken light out, I got to the computer and used it, and then quickly ran to the back of the office, near the door. The guy then returned to his post, and I hid behind the desk in the right corner of the office. The soldiers then burst in, ran around, and left without finding me. I sneaked out the office and ran outside, hopped over the ledge, shimmied all the way across it and that was the end of that level :)

nice one, i found out that when i hid myself in the right corner no one could saw me

Yeah well I guess either corner would do actually. But at first I didn't think it would be possible to ghost this room, and was surprised that it was.
I haven't progressed yet in the Kalinatek level, because I didn't have time to play last night. Probably tonight.

no i'm pretty shure that the corner on the right (when u enter by the window, away from the window) that that was the only good 'hidding' place, but i'm not shure

I'm going through Kalinatek now. It's kinda unfair. So far in the level I've had to KO the first gurad to get the keykode. Then everything was smooth until I went into the shaft. There's a trap when you speak to the two geeks huddling in one room. There's no way to leave the room undetected, especially with time running out. What I did was kill the two thugs before going to speak to the geeks. I waited as they neared a wallmine and blew one of them away and finished off the other (it's probably possible to blast them both with one wallmine). Next everything was easy, until it's time to leave the auditorium. One of the thugs here has the door code, so that's another built-in KO. So, so far I've got 2 KOs (both must KOs), and two kills (pretty much unavoidable as well). And I don't think this is even near the end of the level. Oh well, going back...

Okay, finished Kalinatek. This is definitely not a ghostable level. To add to what I've written about it above: I've captured the keycode guy, hid him, and entered the next room. Here it was extremely tricky, but I did sneak past all the thugs all the way into the server room (it was very hard and took a lot of time). Used the computer and opened the doors, all undetected. But this is where the "fun" began. It was possible to sneak past the next two thugs, even the one in the bathroom, but the last one guarding Ivan is impossible. I spent at least half an hour killing all the lights and nothing was working. So this is a third KO (not built-in, but unavoidable anyway). This ends the main Kalinatek level and the rest you just can't ghost at all. It was possible to sneak past the three guys outside the elevator, and even the next two, but then the game forces you to kill several thugs, and there's nothing you can do. I'll try it later again and see what I can do stelthier, but I had to kill 6 thugs. The last ones, before the cutscene, I sneaked past, but then you have to kill two more guys. Not fair at all... :(
Now I'm on China, but I'll do that later. Too frustrated.
P.S.: Updated my post with the stats, above.
