I'll hold the info back until you're into SCCT, if you don't mind. I think it's better if you find out what you can and can't do yourself. The stats might spoil things.
When you're back, we'll have enough to talk about the remaining part of SC and PT. I'll explain the CT rules once the other games are done, and I'll post my stats of the levels, once you're done with them.
Of course, if you insist that I post my CT ghosting, I'll do, but I think it would be better later.

Not a problem. I plan on finishing SC1 and moving onto SC2 in the very nearest future. I'm stuck at a frustratingly strange part in SC1, just at the beginning of the second part of the Chinese Embassy, where I go through the open area with the little bridges and go through a crawlspace and through the courtyard and into the door - that part's easy, but then you have to get through the keypad door that the colonel opens, so it's either use the thermal vision, which I dislike, or time it and run up there to hold up the door, which is what I do. But then once you're in the next room, there's no way to ghost this. The colonel stands in the doorway, and there are at least three more soldiers inside with him, with lights all over, plus a camera. I tried lots of diversions, but I end up knocking people out.... :(

That was a tough part indeed. I'll tell you how I did it - leaving the second part in a spoiler in case you want to mess with it yourself.
When in the room, with the Colonel with his back to you, switch off the light, move to the other side of the room and make noise (jump). Then move towards the colonel, but go behind (near) the desk (to avoid bumping into the colonel). The colonel will go investigate the sound, and possibly leave the room the way he came in - leaving you a clear (and dark) path to the last warehouse.
Outside the doorway, there is another lightswitch - switch it off, move behind the crate on the left, and do a walljump. You should grab a pipe. Pull your legs up, and move along the pipe and drop between the two "metal shelves" or what...
from there, you are free to go wherever you want ;)

It's been a while, huh? :)
Haven't played anything in a few weeks now, but REALLY want to get back into Splinter Cell and the Challenge.
Anything new with you, Malleus? Any new SC things? :)

Hi!
No SC news, at least nothing related to ghosting. But I finished SCPT without saving in the meantime.  It wasn't really hard, guess I know the game a bit - but it wasn't too stealthy either. :)
I don't know how often did you check the net for SC4 info since then, but here's a ubiforum thread that contains everything (even some spoilers I guess).

That's all about SC. I've been playing Rainbow Six in the meantime, and now I'm playing The Regiment, SWAT4, and Rogue Spear (not too intensely, they'll last for some time I guess). So tactical shooters forever (at the moment)! :)
Of course I'm ready to load up any SC level to check a situation if needed.;)

I just got my hands on Arx Fatalis, and it's very good, so seems the Ghost Challenge is being postponed for a while still... :)
I hope you can forgive me, Malleus, thanks for your patience ;)
Malleus on 24/3/2006 at 14:01
Allright, I'll be here any time you'd want to get back, assuming the world doesn't get destroyed or something in the meantime :). And Arx is a classic, and a "must have", so you're certainly allowed to play it :D. And, last but not least, it's still better than if you've said "I just got my hands on Oblivion" ...
And one tip for Arx: patch the game to the latest version before you start playing it ... otherwise you might be unable to finish the game (patching tends to break some scripting).
poroshin on 24/3/2006 at 14:41
Yes, I patched it to 1.17 and applied the texture patch too. Posted in the Arx forum too. Loving it so far, and I'll be trying to play it stealthily.

I just watched a few videos of the new PSP-exclusive game
Splinter Cell: Essentials. It's very good. But I'm PISSED we don't get this for the PC - why? Ubisoft is limiting their profits by limiting the game to only one platform, I'd think. There's a thread over at official Ubisoft forums about whether or not it should come out for PC: (
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/2771048463/m/8891014824) - not that the poll will influence anyone at Ubisoft. But I just hope they realize they could make more money by releasing the game (perhaps after SC4 is out, perhaps at a lower pricepoint) on PC.

Well, no comment. Even if they do decide to change their business policy in this regard, it won't happen before SC4, and those exclusives will remain exclusives - both SCE itself, and the extra levels/features on every platform.
Now I'm more concerned about the scalability of SC4's graphix. I just learned (by trying Oblivion) that my vid card may not be enough for these "next-gen" games. So maybe I won't be able to play the next SC at all ... but at least I won't have to worry about the exclusive contents then :erg:
