Raimi wanted to do The Vulture as the villain for this one. I don't think he was ever going to do the Lizard. And no Bruce Campbell as Mysterio, either.

(500) Days of Summer, which I thought wasn't without its charm but I didn't particularly love, so it seems they are going for the whole teen angst romcom angle on the Spiderman story.
