And why should a comic book be judged according to source material fidelity? As far as I see it the basic characters and the relationships they share with each other should be preserved--Spider-man should feel like Spider-man, not some guy dressed up like Spider-man--but everything else can and should be adapted to fit the medium of film. Superhero comic books are inherently fairly ridiculous, and storylines involving planet-hopping war games will fall utterly flat in mainstream cinema, and rightly so.
I'm fairly excited for this movie as the Spider-man films are the only superhero movies I've seen since Batman Returns that I didn't think suck monkey balls on at least some level. Still, it's a bit disappointing to see that Raimi and co. are packing as many villains as possible in the movie, a ploy which almost always results in undeveloped characters.

I can't believe Kiki is still hanging around Peter Parker though, in Spidey #2 his wetness behind the ears at the whole situation induced me to start shouting at the screen.

Either way, I'm more or less behind Stitch, since Spiderman 2 follows Batman Begins as my favourite comic book hero movie of recent times.
