You still haven't gotten over that...look I'm sorry. I didn't know your daughter was only two years old! Otherwise I would have never said this. Many apologies.
Anyway, let me ask you a question: Do you think Jane Gilles (if she exists) enjoys her new internet fame?
Another question: Now we have asserted that David Thorne was not pulling a cool prank, is it still funny? Please read the strip again if you have problems remembering.
what
What
WHAT
seriously I have no idea what you're talking about but I'll try my best to respond:
- "gotten over that"? It didn't upset me or shake me to the core of my being, Kolya, I just don't get how someone can seem to so thoroughly miss the point of a joke and you're doing the same thing here all over again
- who the fuck is Jane Gilles? who the fuck is David Thorne?
- oh wait, you're talking about the mundane reality of an internet joke again

Sorry, I'm at work and do not have the time to explain this en detail.

What fett said, seconded.
Aside from that, I can't really see why this deserves such a raving reception. I mean, it's kind of cute and very mildly amusing, but I don't see where all this enthusiasm comes from. I fail to see what's so funny.
But still, what fett said.

Guys, I just don't like jokes with pretend stupidity/ignorance/naivete. Same reason why my first reaction to lolcats is posting a killcat.
Don't ban Kolya over this please :(

Which neither the daughter dating list, this spider email or lolcats involve.
The only stupidity here is you.

Yes. I am sure that the author of the spider email really believed for his work to be worth two hundred dollars.
And I'm sure lolcats have nothing to do with cuteness(Which is essentially stupidity and naivete combined).
So I guess the only ignorance here is you, oh-ho
SubJeff on 19/11/2008 at 13:25
This must be the language barrier again. If you don't have enough of a grasp of English to continue this just admit it and move on. We're not communicating here and fyi you definition of cuteness is just wrong.
Kolya on 19/11/2008 at 17:54
More of an IQ barrier in your case, 85.

Don't worry Donnie, no one's going to get banned here. These people are cowards. The worst they will ever come up with are their little liberal racial slurs:
1. You have no sense of humor. (Because you're from another country and you don't like our punch-in-the-face humor.)
2. It must be the language barrier. (I didn't understand what you just said. I'm scared.)
Subtlety just ain't their thang.

Seriously Scotty, couldn't you tell, what was happening? You brought up our little conversation on your blog here. I thought you using this as an argument was quite unfair since most people would never read your lame blog. So I led the expectations of the audience a bit astray... It's funny when one isn't you, you know?
And you sit there with your
what-what-what and your claim on having some kind of copyright on humour, while I'm dancing on your rooftop, baby. :thumb:

I think you kind of have missed the point of this spider joke though. I'm not laughing because:
a) Jane appears to not recognise she's being played, haha Jane is an idiot
b) haha, a man is wasting the time of a company he owes money to
c) what a silly picture of a spider
(although, all of these things contribute to the levity of the humour)
It's more the general absurdity of a situation where somebody could think they could get away with that - the image of a world where people would try this sort of thing (because it isn't genuine in the sense that whoever is writing the David emails honestly doesn't know his drawing is worthless).
It's like somebody going into a bank and trying to deposit a birthday cake. It's just shit that doesn't fit together (conceptions of how you should write in a corporate email) both defied - expecting to pay with a drawing - and yet upheld - every letter is very polite and "honestly" written. And also, to a certain extent, toys with our idea of what exists where and ownership in a virtual world where things when sent are merely duplicated, and the application of real world "I sent it so you have and must send it back" to a situation where it does not apply. We know that a lot of people don't fully understand the technology they use every day, so it's sort of funny from that perspective, someone innocently able to send an email but not really appreciating the implications. The fact that it seems like a delaying tactic to avoid paying the company is such a comedy staple that it's barely worth mentioning.
The unexpected versus the predicted in a light-hearted environment and in this case especially, where no one can be hurt or offended. What is not to like? At worst Jane is likely to think "what an idiot" or "he must be having a laugh". That's if it's even real. If it is, then David is playing to an audience, not trying to frustrate Jane (which he doesn't succeed in anyway).
Yes, it's not the funniest thing in the world, but it certainly made me laugh.

That was a waste of time, it's amazing what you can get drawn into.
