You think we're talking about Spider-Man 3?
We're all referring to The Adventures of Archibald Spiderman III. You haven't seen it yet?

Fuck. Foiled again!

Evidently Peter Parker has gone retrograde on the maturity side. The movie just didn't depict that he has gained any new perspective on his role in the spidey suit.
Poorly paced.
I would have to say uninspired is the word for this sequel.
I showed up 20 minutes late and didn't even care.

I don't get why so many people are hating on the movie. It was nice, good cheesy fun. And I don't get why so many people say that the cheesiness was bad, it's Spiderman, I'm pretty sure cheesiness is a part of his character.
However, I'll say one thing, the movie should've either been 20 minutes longer to flesh out some more story points, or shortened down and omit Sandman, although their underground fight was cool. Venom was awesome, but he should've looked more muscular, and I kept seeing Topher Grace as Eric Foreman.

Meh. It was too long, plot was too tangled with the 3 bad guys, and Venom wasn't in it nearly enough. The new suit just came out of nowhere and the people I went with, who don't know much about the comic, were very, very confused by it. The whole thing just felt like they ran out of time and yet we had to have some booooring emo stuff about being a good person and forgiveness - they should've either done it properly (ie, not cheesesteaks smothered in puerility ) or cut it out to focus on the other stuff.
A disappointment.

I haven't seen it. It dosn't look to good though.
I think that if they had John Heder play as Spiderman,
that would rule.

Well, now I'm completely torn.
On the one hand, cheese can be good, clean fun. On the other hand, one of the reviews at RT said Dunst sings? I don't see that ending well, no matter how I look at it.
It was always a movie for comic book fans, SE, so I don't think I can fault them for losing some of the mainstream.
When you are saying 'Venom's not in it enough!', do you mean Venom as the character, or Venom as the suit? Because I'm ok with Venom-as-a-character not having center stage - gives the chance for a movie of his own.
Kind of like the end of 2, where Green Goblin 2.0 -as-a-character only showed up at the tail end of it. Unless that's what Scots meant by 'holding back the punchline' (fwiw, I really enjoyed X3 and hated the first two).
Now, if the suit's not in it until ~the halfway mark, I'll be less than thrilled.
So:
* Cheesy - I love me some cheese
* too long/bad pacing - I don't notice this as much as other people, I think.
* similiar to the earlier works - which were meh. Some nice moments come to mind; Doc Ock going crazy was delightful cheesy horror.
That about cover it?

The cheese of spider-man the character derives from his cocky smarm which Toby Maguire has never even attempted to pull off (or been allowed to try?)
This movie was probably better for fans of the movies than of the comics, especially as Venom was just plain wasted
unless the part of the symbiote that Dr Connors has somehow stages a resurrection for the sequels
However, there were some hilarious moments if you could accept them on face value. Bruce Campbell was great, and I also loved the part where Parker pulls down his fringe to make himself emo. Brilliant.
Also, Sandman`s CG were done really well, and he would have been a good villain if it wasnt for the fact that Venom is much cooler.

Was supposed to see it tonight, events transpired that prevented it - damn! :(

I saw it last Sunday. Parts of it were great, parts of it meh, parts very sub par. I was never a huge fan of venom or carnage or the symbiont in general. To me it was part of what I saw as the erosion of classic marvel during and after the secret wars/mutant wars.
I prefer the more old school villians. Which is why Spiderman 2 is my favorite of the series so far. Let's face it, though Willem Dafoe was very much up to the job of being the Green Goblin in Spiderman 1, the execution (ahem, I mean that hunk of plastic on his face) was terrible. What the hell is the point of having Willem Dafoe if you cant see that menacingly rubbery face?
I loved the Sandman, because hell he's old school and what's not to love. I just wish the ONE other villain had been The Lizard. But the main problem I had was some of the very over the top dancing shit. What in god's name was that about?? Okay, it was funny in a very Sam Raimi way. It just left me with my jaw dropped, wondering if the movie was turning into a musical parody of itself.
And then the lip quivering. Instead of crying at the end I was making fun of Peter and Mary Jane by comically quivering my lip. Not quite the reaction I would like to have from a movie about one of my favorite comic books of all time.
One slight little thing: Gwen Stacy. Except this time Spidey saves her. Spidey beats ur conservation of momentum.
