If somebody is tailgating I always slow down for safety reasons -- the separation needs to be appropriate for the speed, and if their distance is not safe I will slow down until it is.
I'll be delighted to let the asshole pass at the earliest opportunity, but that doesn't mean I am going to (a) pull over to let him do so, or (b) drive at a too-high speed with him still on my tail just to keep him happy.
I've been noticing a lot of angry assholes on the road lately. They seem to think that I am somehow personally trying to annoy them or something, when the reality is that I'm minding my own damned driving. Nowadays, I simply try to minimize the amount of driving in my life.
Anyway, I can completely identify with your attitude. I still feel tempted to fuck with assholes like that sometimes, but then I remember that it's not worth losing my head.
(edit) Um, I think I quoted the wrong thing. I meant to quote Sly's comment that was quoted by OrbWeaver.

A guy in the wrong lane on a roundabout (yes!) decided to honk angrily at me yesterday because obviously I should have magically known he wanted to carry on straight when he was in the left hand lane.
Zipping past him on my bike while he was stuck in a traffic jam was quite satisfying though. :D

But you are supposed to be in the left hand lane if you're going straight, you're just supposed to signal as you pass the exit before the one you're aiming for. Or did he honk you without signaling.
Edit: This is assuming you're in the UK, of course.

I theorize that he's British.

Three lane roundabout, single exit lane.
