We have the same problem here in the US. I believe it's called the 'Two Second Advantage'
lol I love that!
It happens when people want to get ahead of the crowd of cars so it'll be straight free roads the rest of the way, so they pass one car... then they're stuck because either the lanes merge, or people are going slow in the fast lane, etc... It's funny when people pointlessly pass.
One thing i've wondered is: If you're going slow in the fast lane, and you cant get over into the slow lane and someone's riding your ass, why did you get in the fast lane in the first place? making a left turn onto the highway?
Not a grudge, just never happens to me and I wonder how it happens at all.

Half the people in cars are wankers.
You can be in not the inside lane quite legitly if you're over taking slower traffic or numerous other reasons. If your doing 50 in a 50 zone and the guys and girls on the inside lane are doing 45 you've every right to use the other lanes to drive past.
The wanker in the other car doing all the hooting and beeping and tailgating was being a needlessly agressive, selfish, mindless, tosswipe; as a sadly large proportion of people in cars tend to be (yes, I'm looking at you). End of story. There is no compulsion to undertake or tailgate or be otherwise a moronic cock other than in the unfortunate event that you happen to be a moronic cock, in which case one should really be wondering if one isn't too retarded to be fit to drive in the first place.
BUT I'M IN A CAR, I CAN GO FASTER. UGG.
Also, learn to park ffs.

I completley agree, I'm not agresssive though. I've said it already. I'm talking about when fast lane people are going slower of the same speed as slow lane people. It's inconciderate to people that want to get home after a 10 hour shift, or people who are driving for work, or people who just have such busy lives that they don't want to be slowed down in the lane they drive in to not be slowed down.
now end of story.

I'm actually a VERY safe and good driver.
Yeah sure, and no doubt if/when you have kids they will all be "very bright".
Gotta love things that 100% of people are convinced apply to them, when statistically it's no more than a few percent. :tsktsk:

well someone's gotta make up the few percent.

What concerns me about driving is people are always so tense, and in such a rush. A) there is something completely sick about our society if getting to work late by 5 minutes is so important that you'd drive dangerously, and B) If you can't get to work on time then you should leave earlier.
On a 20 min 3/4 highway, 1/4 city commute, driving like Miss Daisy gets me to work five minutes later at the most, usually less. I don't get worked up, I don't get obsessed with "winning", I get hella good gas mileage, and the commute almost becomes an enjoyable experience.
I think the big problem is cars are far too powerful these days, and it's way more than people who aren't professional racing drivers can handle. It's also quite likely that having that incredible acceleration encourages people to drive like their house is on fire. The guys from Car Talk wrote something about this once, and I agree, that there should be a limit to the power to weight ratio of all cars allowed on the road.
And 37637598 sounds like a 17-year-old trying to justify driving like a douche bag.

Yeah, and it isn't 19-year-olds. Deal with it.

There is nothing to justify. There are ups and downs to driving fast and slow, I just drive safe whether it's fast or slow. Maybe you people haven't experienced montana's drivers, but every person i've ever talked to from out of state says we have the slowest drivers they've ever seen. Just 5 minutes ago on my way back to work from my lunch break, I was stuck going 25 in a 45mph zone, and when i'm on a tight schedual it gets a bit frustrating (not that i'm on a tight schedual right now)... I believe the only reason car wrecks are caused is from idiots that don't have the perception to be driving how they do. I'm simply saying that some people are more capable of driving fast safley than others. I know that everyone has the right to drive slow and I don't have the legal right to drive fast so I obey the slower traffic, but some people (grannies) take it too slow.
If i'm going 45mph in a 45mph zone and someone makes a turn right in front of me and I hit them, it's their fault and there's a reason for that. It's because if cars are coming, you're supposed to wait if you're trying to turn. I think it's in conciderate to get in peoples way and slow them down. I think if you see someone driving fast, it's inconciderate to get in front of them and drive slow. And how do you know if the person driving fast doesn't have an emergency? And you're gonna slow them down even more just to be an ass because they honked their horn? It's different in every situation but I think people need to realize that being stupid is why people get shot and get in wrecks and die.

Agreed. I'd say it's closer to two-thirds though.
Plus, having studied traffic jams, they are a combination of slow hesitant drivers and maniac lane-shifting speeders. Unlike RBJ seems to assert, those who speed are not usually moderate, considerate, careful or cautious drivers; those who are inclined to speed often tend to no matter what the environment and will be hopping lanes constantly. I watch this on a regular basis, mr speedy comes zipping up the right-lane, sees a couple of cars reaching a natural slowing down bottleneck and he zips across two lanes (causing people to brake) where he can see a gap, comes right up the arse of someone so he can sneak in front of someone else (causing them to brake) and so on. It's forced successions of braking cars that cause jams, as mr idiot speeder switches lanes without consideration, forces other people to get on the brake, which causes more mr idiot speeders to switch lanes and so on and so forth ad nauseum.
I will agree that a fair whack of accidents are caused by overly timid, hesitant and dangerously slow drivers on motorways, but far more are caused by excess of speed - I work in insurance, I should know, I see this shit every day.
Essentially people need to stop treating the road like a race track, their lives like a game of Need For Speed Underground and get some fucking perspective.
