I agree that if you're not going to keep up you should get out of the fast lane (which is the right lane here, and the limit is 70mph in the UK). Everyone hates people who insist on driving AT the limit in the fast lanes. But the speeders I'm talking about, those that crash into others, are those that want to go 100+mph and so are weaving around people going at 80-100. And of course it is their fault if they hit someone else. If you're paying attention to traffic there is hardly any reason why you should hit into someone else from behind (sure someone might stop suddenly or crash or something but I'm not talking about exceptional circumstances).
I really don't believe this "speed limits are to generate cash" line. Not here in the UK at least. We'd have many more speed cameras on the motorways if it were so. You can travel most of the M1 without passing fixed cameras, just temp ones at roadworks.
As to jams - I think many are caused by all the speeders hitting the bottlenecks at once. It wouldn't be an issue if we had wider roads but the vast majority of UK motorways seem to be 3 lane only, and when roadworks take one lane out...
BR - I hate most of those things but the thing I hate most is people who don't indicate on roundabouts. Grrr.

And again, it's those who don't 'Know' how to drive fast. I do think over 100mph in a 70 is a bit over the limit, but if you're completley capable of paying attention and being a safe fast driver, then there's no problem.
I also hate when people walk across the highway and expect people to just slow down. FUCK YOU I'll kill you!

I wouldn't agree with that. For one, the roads are not designed to accommodate cars travelling at that speed, also the other drivers would not be expecting you to be doing that sort of figure and that could cause trouble in itself.

but that all comes into play with the word 'Capable'. And when I say capable, I mean you need to be able to make the decision if the road is wide enough, if the material that the road is made out of is safe to be driving fast on, if it's an old road you should be more careful as there may be pot-holes, and whenever you come close to someone, you should always pay attention to them and slow down a bit because you're right, they may not see you or expect it at all. If you're safe and capable and constantly look at every possibility 'like me', then I think you'll be fine.

If I'm already doing 78mph, and other drivers have to "constantly have to tap their brakes, and switch lanes in order to deal with [drivers like me]"... I don't think they're particularly reasonable.
I think we probably want to re-evaluate speeds limits - 65mph in the states sounds frustrating - and put them up a bit, but then the limit IS the limit. And mister self-important-speedster can just deal with it.
I'm also thinking we should consider what kind of cruising speed offers the best miles-per-gallon (on average) - I heard about 90km\h but I don't have authoritative figures to hand.

I never said they have to constantly tap brakes or anything along those lines. I said they have to constantly pay attention. Not for you, for them! Because they're the ones driving fast. And IF they get a chance to pass, they can, but if you're going a reasonable speed or the speed limit, there should never be an issue. Speeding is a luxury that should only be utilized when it's safe and appropriate. If you're going the speed limit, im not gonna ride your ass because I want to speed. If you're in the fast lane and you're going the same speed as the slow lane, then things get rough.

First: If everybody started accelerating as soon as a light turned green, and immediatley accelerated to the speed limit, we'de be able to fit at a minimum of 10 - 15 more cars through every light!
I hate when people pull out in front of me and then decide to slow me down. I'll ride their ass so close that they'll pull over.

I'm sorry but I don't think you sound like a 'safe and capable driver' to me. You say people should immediatley accelerate as soon as the light turns green? That would be fine if other idiots didn't jump red lights. Also, riding up someones ass is utterly idiotic, even if they did pull out in front of you and slow you down. That is just dangerous, a friend of mine does this and has nearly smashed into the back of some guy when he decided to brake suddenly.
It just seems to me that you're an angry and aggresive driver. You might be good at driving when everyone on the road is behaving themselves or whatever but understanding there are idiots on the road who will cut you up and piss you off is vital. Don't make the situation worse, just try and deal with it and console yourself with the fact you're a better driver than them.

Ah my bad, though my point does still stand.
I personally think they shoul issue a "fast drivers" liscense that permits certain people who pass a test, to drive like 10 MPH faster in city, and like 20MPH faster on highway. Then all the problems would be solved! because if you don't pass the FAST DRIVERS test, then obviousley you CANT drive fast.

You know that the survival rates differ massively if you hit someone at 30 or 40mph, right? Tbh, you sound like an unsafe driver. A stupid driver in fact.
