The only time I had a 'proper accident' was caused by a Volvo driving doing 30mph. He decided that rather than let me go past, he'd put his foot down when I went to overtake. Hence I was going too fast when I reached the bend and slid into the kerb at 60mph.
Fortuantely, he didn't stop because I would have been tempted to cave his head in with my steering lock.
To avoid this happening again, I've since bought a car with a supercharger on it.

Whilst I'm sure this happens anecdotally I can report that in all the trauma calls I've attended in the past year not one of them has been by someone hit in the fast lane. Its all been drunks, natch (even people only just over the limit) and speeders wanting to weave around other fast lane users and plowing into those in the slower lanes. And of course the odd motorcyclist who didn't realise how sharp a corner was.
FYI I'm a staunch believer in speed limit enforcement because a) I believe it reduces traffic jams and b) injuries sustained at 90mph are much, much worse than those at even 80. Head injury isn't where it's at because most people who have fast cars have airbags. It's knees into dashboards fracturing femurs/hips/pelvises. Getting home 15minutes earlier just isn't worth it imho, but I guess you have to see/experience these things to appreciate just how awful an inside to out open fracture is.

I think some people are perfectly capable of driving the speed they feel is safe, as well as fast for them. It's just some other people think they can just 'Go Faster' when they really just don't know how to drive fast. And it's usually females on cell phones, or teenagers with freinds. No offense but if you dis agree with the fact, you're ignorant or in denial because you're either a teenager that likes to impress your freinds over safety, or a female that talks on a phone whilst driving.
EDIT: and people that don't use seat belts are just downright STUPID!

You do realize that just isn't the speeder's fault?
People wouldn't have to pass you on the right if you weren't being a twat in the first place.
Poor lane discipline causes more accidents than actual speeding itself.
And "speeding" wouldn't be an issue if speed limits were set properly for the highways, rather than being set artificially low in order to provide revenue streams due to guaranteed ticketing. Don't get all moral on people for "breaking" what is essentially a bad law.
65 mph speed limits on highways are a joke. And, because you get a whole bunch of craptastic drivers thinking "I'm going to drive the speed limit no matter what lane I'm in or what the general flow of traffic is" low speed limits and slow drivers CAUSE traffic jams... because other reasonable drivers constantly have to tap their brakes, and switch lanes in order to deal with them, which is what actually cause traffic slow downs.
In short, shut the fuck up and get the fuck out of my way.

If you're a fast driver, NEVER come to montana. You'll shoot yourself and be re-incarnated, and grow old again before the person in front of you speeds up.

First: If everybody started accelerating as soon as a light turned green, and immediatley accelerated to the speed limit, we'de be able to fit at a minimum of 10 - 15 more cars through every light!
I hate when people drive slow, so you decide to pass em', they see you trying to pass so they speed up and don't let you pass. I"LL KILL YOU!
