What if you were with your girlfriend/ wife/ children and one of them crushed their hand in the door and it snapped in half breaking every bone in their hand, then you want to drive to the hospital but goody 2 shoes in front of you finds your fast driving as a threat and slows down, maybe you honk to let them know that it's an emergency, but they slow down even more.
And then they hit the brakes forcing you to wipeout into the ditch and crash. You manage to crawl out of the burning wreck of your car leaving your dead girlfriend/ wife/ children behind. Then the slow driver walks up to you laughing diabolically and you ask "Why? ... ugh... why did you DO that?" and he replies "IT IS THE LAW MUAHAHAHAHA" and then 10 other slow drivers show up and they circle you and close in on you slowly while chanting "One of us! One of us!" and the night swallows your screams of despair which noone will ever hear.
THE END
send this story to 10 people or you will get stuck behind a slow driver

But the reason you pass them is because you'de rather be going faster. I don't see why everyone else is trying to say there's something bad about it.
So, I guess you see nothing wrong with the thousands of people who die each year in car accidents where a majority are caused by speeding? :nono:
MORON!

I see nothing wrong wih drunk drivers and idiots who drive fast out of their control dying due to speeding. I want those fools to die, but you make it sound like if you speed, you WILL crash and die! It's not like that at all unless 'you're' a moron and can't control the vehicle.

So we have people who want to speed, yet tailgate a slower driver? Why not just over take them? Who cares if you over take on the wrong side or you cross unbroken lines (or whatever you local laws are). You're already breaking the law and driving dangerously by speeding, so you might as well give the other road rules the finger too.

Who said they want to tailgate people?
And It's not so much that I want to speed, as I just don't want to be slowed down if I'm going the speed limit.
And can anyone here that drives honestly say that they have never exceeded speed limits?

Some people have a set income and a house and kids and life is good so they don't ever need to go fast because they never 'need' to be anywhere. Others are poor and barley scraping by and NEED to be somewhere.
Oh come on now. If you 'need' to be somewhere, leave 10 minutes earlier.

Also as I said you may have an emergency.
I don't think that conflating everyday fast driving and 'emergency' fast driving is necessarily going to help this discussion.

In my life everything is an emergency, maybe that's why I find it idiotic of people to slow others down. My job and my life are very fast paced.
Whilst I see that your job obviously involves some element of urgency, I'm also a little surprised that no-one keeps back-up units around.

And I still think if you're not gonna go the speed limit either because you're afraid or just don't want to drive that fast for no reason at all, ride a bike. Or walk/ run. If you're that slow, you could probably use the exercise anyway.
Yes, I'm sure the pensioners in society would LOVE to be able to ride a bike or run to get their shopping.

Assuming that its safe to exceed the speed limit (i.e. break the law) if you're good at it then surely it should be safe for me to talk on my handheld mobile phone and drive at the same time, because I can do it safely. Or drink and drive, because I'm good at it and I can do it safely.
And they should have another driving test where you use your mobile phone and you can phone and drive when you've passed it. And another one where you get drunk and drive around so you're allowed to do that too.
