I'm sure everyone has lost interest, but it's not so much sheer speed as carelessness that gets people into "accidents" on the road. It seems that what people tend to complain about is people driving and not paying attention in heavy traffic during rush hour - at this time everyone is either half awake or tired after a day's work. From an external perspective, it seems fairly obvious why people get wound up in such an environment, probably leading to more inconsiderate behaviour and aggressive driving.

While I was reading these posts I noticed a divide. The people who believe that the speed limits and stop lights are good and should be obeyed, then the people who think that speed limits are stupid because their set too low.
I have to agree with the former. "Too Low" is purely relative. You might be going 70 mph, then have some dude blast past you at 100. Everyone wants to get places faster and faster, but the safety of you and everyone around you is most important. Even if you don't get hurt in an accident, you could end up wounding or killing someone else. And then your life goes to crap when the cops nab you.
Speed limits are there for a good reason. Follow them.

Two 17 year old boys killed themselves near here last weekend, drinking and driving. This weekend their friends are going to celebrate their memory with a bush party. Brilliant.
I feel sorry for the family and friends and for the pain of their grief but I have no sympathy for the two boys, only relief that they just killed themselves and didn't hurt any innocents. When I see dangerous drivers my wish is that they find glorious union with a sturdy, vertical concrete object, and don't hurt anyone else in the process.
Is that selfish of me?

not at all. I think anyone that exceeds their driving abilities needs to get a hint. If you can't drive safley, then you shouldn't drive at all.
I don't necessarely think all speed limits should go up, I just think people should go AT LEAST the speed limit. If for some reason they feel they need to drive slow, put on your hazards or pull over for the people that don't want to spend their lives waiting in traffic.
I don't know, I just think people are stupid and air-head-ish to get in wrecks.

I think the real problem that examples like these expose is that this society grants too much responsibility and freedom (I'm thinking of military and driving at the moment) to people at too young of an age. It seems every time I open a newspaper there's an article with some scienty guy saying that brains under 21 can't weigh consequences worth a shit.

Oh dear. It's really not up to you to decide how fast people should go. Deal with it.
Public roads get used by the public; and the public come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and ages and do all sorts of weired things. Learning to coexist without being a such a plonker is a much more important component in the driving skill set than being able to parallel park, not that there's anything wrong with being able to park neatly, but it is really only particularly useful when parking.

Nope, it's up to them. But I's just annoying. Alot like being stuck behind a fat person in walmart when you just want to run in and get a drink.

So you're saying that slowing others life down and wasting my time is more important than knowing how to drive fully? Parking is required when you get a drivers license. I'd rathar not spend more time in my car then I need to with all the crazy drivers out there.
