quick question, i was wearing full medium and light armor and somehow my unarmored skill went up.. wtf, the only thing i can think of is that i was using a 2her Daikatana, if you dont have a shield does that count to unarmored? Also does speed effect how quick you actually swing and switch from spell to melee?
my characters a paladin like guy but im trying to make him med/light armor (the orc gear looks like old school samruai armor, i gotta get me some of that! heh) and go twords speed/agility but debating how usefull speed will really be. Endurance is still tempting cuz it determains your HP heh
oh ya, since end determains your HP does that mean 100 is the most you can ever have?

I don't think speed matters for your attack speed. I raised unarmored skill as well, wearing full heavy armor and weilding a 2 handed axe. You're probably right about the shield. Strength seems like a better focus point then speed. It lets you carry around a lot of things, and is the governing attribute long swords.

*nods*
Speed is the governing attribute of few skills, but it determines your speed in how quickly you move. Besides going from say, Dagon Fel to Vos, it's useful in combat if you step back quicker than the oppenent steps up, hold the attack key for a few seconds, run in, slash, and come back out etc.

Speed is also very useful for us marksmen out there (who didn't go for spear as a minor ability :rolleyes: ). In the semi-rare occasions when my sniping/sneaking fails and I get spotted, I really like to be able to backpedal and strafe arrows faster than the icky enemy closes in on me.

Well, like a few others here, I don't have Morrowind yet. But I have to say, Speed and Strength seem like they would make the game the most playable. You'd be able to run much fast and jump much higher, and thus outpace most of your enemies very easily.

Speed = Good
Speed gets you from place to place faster. Afterall, you don't want to be spending most of your gaming time running slowly, as specially when you can be doing other, much cooler things. (Such as clearing a daedric shrine :ebil: ) Speed is mostly for saving time. It dosen't affect your swing or cast speed. But I guess it can be used in a tactical sense, (Hit and run type thing) but i perfer to just go toe to toe with whom I'm facing. (Although it's very handy for retreating in case you need to do a quick heal in the middle of a fight! ;) )
