So we have two of (At least) my most eagerly awaited movies released this week and next for 2008.
Namely Iron Man and Speed Racer. I was rewatching the trailers yesterday and while I'm wet at the prospect of going to see Iron Man next weekend; I think Speed Racer looks altogether more interesting and is a return to form (After the first Matrix film) for the Wankchowski's.
What's the consensus around here? Silly Cartoon or Cinematic Sex?

I've not used your link, but have seen a few cuts (trailers), and I am still a Speedracer fan. The Racing channel was running the original toons last year.
I will surely see the movie.

I think it will be super awesome.

Don't think I'll be going to see this one. I tend to lose patience with films that are set in an entirely artificial world with no connection to reality (usually in the characters) whatsoever. They simply tend to bore me after 10, 15 minutes.
Yes, Sin City, I'm looking at you.

I was more into Astro Boy than Speed Racer back in the days, but I will definitely watch this movie.
I used to play with a scaled model of Mach 5 with spring-loaded saw blades and other silly attachments. Too bad I wrecked it. It could be worth something on eBay by now.

What Ko0k said, though it's not on my Must-Watch list. Never was much of a fan of SR, though the parody episode they made in Dexter's Laboratory about it was r00fles for the time. :)
I am a bit sad they're not using the silly yaddayaddayadda style of talking how they used in the original dubbed series. That would have been so amusing (but then again probably annoying to most...).

This is a real shame. The total disconnect is what makes them interesting. You know when people talk about popcorn flicks not needing to be grounded in reality when they are excusing something crud? Well the total disconnect is the only situation where this really applies. You're missing out man. Too bad.
I'm definitely going to see this, but Ironman comes first.
