I have a problem that I haven't seen in any forums or in the FAQ yet.
Anytime my character is walking and the crosshair passes over any object on the floor that you can use or manipulate, he will suddenly appear to run forward and then walk at his normal pace again. This also holds true if he should happen to be backing up; it will send him backwards at a quick rate of speed and then return to the normal speed again.
The computer is a Dell 4550 Series Pentium 4 @ 2.66 Ghz w/512 SDRAM, 128 MB ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Video, 60GB HD.
I didn't have this problem with my old computer and Arx was the first program that I installed when I got the new computer a few days ago. I suppose I could just get use to it but it kind of kills the whole 'immersion' feel of the game if everytime I see an object I go running past it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

That's weird, maybe the framerate is jumping when you look down due to the program having to render less?? Though i notice your computer is crippled by use of SDRAM, man that's holding your P4 2.66 back a bit let me tell you.

Can you set ForceGDI to 1 in your Cfg.ini and let me know if it helps please ?
If it work, we'll set it by default in the next patch.

I have this problem as well, and ForceGDI=1 didn't work.
To clarify the problem, it feels like the game needs a frame limiter - in narrow corridors the entire game runs really fast, and in large open areas it runs at normal speed. It also goes into fast forward if I turn to face a wall.
Edit: I am running on an Athlon ~2700+ and a Radeon 9700 Pro.

Yeah well, not so well spotted as it's pretty bleeding obvious :joke:
C'mon, please devs, I've just got this game and this is really really annoying! I notice that Breakfast Rider and I both are running this game on very fast systems... but I don't really know what this means.
Oh and the above poster is a gentleman and a humanitarian of the highest order - he gave me his spare copy of Arx for free  :thumb:
