Ok I finally got around to playing the game properly. But in some stages I don't hear any speech from the characters. I found a few references to some 'speech memory leak' bug and I applied the single player patch. But the problem wasn't fixed.
Is there supposed to be speech throughout the game?
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to upgrade your Mime skill to expert level to hear all the conversations and find the 'Walking Against a Strong Wind' augmentation cannister.

Thanks anyways, it was actually my hardrive screwing up. Some corrupted data due to unexpected power outage. A reinstall fixed it all.
