Hi Mel, best of luck for today! :thumb:
I'm really impressed how a person could just decide to completely change their life like you have, in a whole new country too! very brave.
I'm sure you'll remember everything, and all the national anthem words, if not just cough over the parts you dont! :cheeky:

Its NOT her birthday, thats still in a few weeks yet. Mel becomes a full blooded English woman, finally fit to have tea mind you. Bout damn time, let me tell you. She made lousy tea, now thats she's a dual citizen, maybe that will change. :p
Good luck Mel, call me later, if I don't get ahold of you first girl. ;) :D

Congratulations, Mel! You've worked so hard towards this goal and it's great to see you get there.

Thank you all for the kind words, I'm touched. It was a great day and the weather was perfect.
The citizenship ceremony was held at the Newcastle Civic Centre in their ballroom. There were about 40 people there (including their families). They had the Lord Mayor's harpist playing music which was really beautiful. The ceremony lasted about an hour and I received my British Citizenship certificate, a welcome packet with information on applying for my passport and such and a pretty china cup as a keepsake. The kids that were being granted citizenship were given cute toy red squirrels instead of the china. I told Iain I was going to tackle one of the kids for their squirrel but he didn't think that would be appropriate. ;)
So all of my red tape is done except my passport. After almost three and half years and what seems like a zillion £s I can officially say that I am a British citizen!
Nickie and Dave - they gave us the words to sing the anthem plus they played a tape to sing-a-long with so I got away with it!
BA - LIES - I do make a great cup of tea. Nightwalker gave me a great recipe. :D

You were the southern belle of the Brittish ball? Well Cockney and drawl aren't so different after enough Newcastle I suppose. Huzzahyeehaw and all what mmm? Congrats on having two countries claim you. Rule Brittainia by the twilights last gleaming for me or something.

Newcastle, blimey hadn't realized you were so close!
Pleased the day went so well Shadow Creepr. I know that room very well having had loads of training courses for my work there.
