Great news everyone, according to some emails I've been receiving lately, there's a new scientific breakthrough in <del> penis enlargement</del> male enhancement. They finally made a pill that works, and it's 76% off online for a limited time! I'm digging through my emails now. I'll post the links when I find it :p

Is anything being done about this? We're getting so much spam it's coming out of our ears. I must be reporting at least 2-3 spam posts a week.
Dave recently (well, January) added a 'human' question when you register after I had a similar rant at him, poor man :)
After that was done there was a massive reduction in spam posts - we
were seeing literally dozens a day (You don't even get to see half of them, the spam filter does catch a lot of threads that we then have to flag as being legit or not). But inevitably, some get through.

Is that an Akismet filter?

EDIT: Apparently not...

I'm pretty sure it only tries to filter threads / posts by new users, so you're free to regale us with your Viagra Adventures (brought to us by the numbers one, two and three), Kolya.

That is the usual string that Akismet suggests to use for testing if spam is being picked up.

They should do what CAD does and require new users to have a post count 40 before they're allowed to post links.

Should probably also hinge on how retarded those first 40 posts are.

I've just reported one in a thread on ThiefGen. Starts with "I don’t know what to say. This blog is fantastic...". So if anyone sees any other posts like that, you know what to do.
If I hadn't read Ulukai's comment about the 'human question', I would have thought it was posted by a bot.

We had the same thing happen over on Black Cat, the Russian Federation was busy busy! We also had to add the *human question*. It drastically cut down the amount of spam. I still check the IP's, they try to slip in, I won't let them, and keep them out as best I can. Checking the IP's I still find a few that do try, and they come up as spammers on Project Honey Pot or Stop Forum spam.
