Don't listen to those people, they just like to kick up dirt whenever someone does something like this.
Every. Single. Time.
I'm surprised they didn't seem to make a fuss about the patched version of DromEd in the DromEd Toolkit, so that counts as an exception...

Please don't stop work on thief kart. I am looking forward to that!:o As I am sure others are as well. I guess until an admin comes in here and shuts you down, don't worry about it. (and since Digital Nightfall is an admin, and was okay with the thread, don't worry.)
We're just voicing our concerns about the legality of this whole thing... I don't agree with the rules, but they are there. But I guess New Horizon has a point that it's over ten years old, and unless someone flat out told Eidos what was going on, nothing is going to happen. I don't think it's a problem really, as like you said, you aren't doing it for profit, etc. blah blah blah.

Yes, most of us say that just do it! We all do it at some level. Patched versions of exe files, custom resources from other games, etc. You just have to understand what you are doing ;)

no law can stop me editing the stuff that i have on my pc, as long as i dont share it for money.
The law can, and in most places, the law allows your computer (in fact ANY computer in your house) to be removed and destoried along with and backup copys or such of the data. My point was just that you were showing a complete LACK of knowledge in the law and well, acting a bit bloody stupid.

if you think that what i'm doing is wrong, then i will also stop working on my Thief Kart Project
i didn't say wrong.. Just by the letter of the law, against it. My own works on my site is, by the letter of the law, against it. Doing an Animated Series based on other peoples characters, doing a site that archives information etc, in theory it is against the law but companys won't really do anything unless that have to. Thief Kart might be fun (Though being a Sonic fan, Thief Drift would be more fun ^_^).. though i was a little let down with Doom Kart... Work on it all your like, just don't try to do the two finger salute and dare the companys to try and stop you. It is an insult to the original creators.

boy, you make one comment about someones attuide and you are labeled as 'Those people'... oh well.. if that was meant as offense, i'll take it as that no problem, i seam to have sparked off a few things here, but it was just a comment, then thats what i'll take it as ^_^ OH, and come to think of it, i probebly done a number of things like this in my younger days. again, my comment was simplely about tring to justifity how legal it is when it isn't and little effort went into tring to say it was.
Nameless Voice on 6/3/2009 at 11:02
That wasn't aimed directly at you, but more at the way that every time there's a thread about something slightly 'dodgy', it ends up being derailed by people talking about laws and abandoning the original topic.

ah. Okay then ^_^
still wonder a bit why make this kind of thing in the dark engine when there are much better ways but oh well.

Perhaps its a little rough on the edges, but its still OUR dark engine! Sometimes you just have to turn a blind eye on 'legal issues' and appreciate the time others put into the work that one day ends up on your pc. Besides the ttlg and thief community in general is officially labeled as a "fanatical cult" So if religions age and sometimes seem to be 'outdated' by individuals why can't this?
