Scientific American isn't what it used to be. I was once a fan and subscriber but over the years it has gone pop sci and turned into a clone of Discover.
Facebook used to be awesome. Now it sucks.
The main thing that traditional forums (like this one) do better is supporting sustained discussion. Facebook is for drive-by commenting only because posts get buried so quickly and everyone's feed is so filtered.

Fett, you got me back over here just to read your stuff... I read all your stuff on facebook. (I can't read everyone else's stuff right now, cuz I'm at work) FB is a lot of bullshit and fluff, but if you pay attention, there is substance to be found amongst the asshattery. TTLG got to the point where if you weren't in there all the way, every day you got lost... at least I did (of course I have the attention span of a gnat). Don't leave facebook, you're one of the diamonds in the rough over there. You don't have to choose one or the other, this is not a Dark side/Light side thing.

I just post pics of my grandkids on facebook and nobody wants that. Other than that I just fact check republican lies for family who fall for that shit. Some jokes. I'm NICE on facebook. That aint me. You folks see me. Drunk me is real me. Well... double me anyway. Not that I'm not curious about Vivian now but I wouldn't inflict my facebook on him to see it or any of you for that matter. Nice to see this place still kicking. It would be a shame if intelligent witty folks lost each other in the vastness of interweb. Also if you folks did yuck har.
