Amen Tocky. It is this site and people's posts that inspired me to spend the last 6+ hours mixing down some old 4 track recordings to MP3s and posted them to Sound Cloud. If anyone cares to take a listen, search for Estebannevets. There are 3 tunes. Maybe you will like one of the 3? They are nothing alike - well, maybe 2 are similar. 30 year old stuff, from a time when I still gave a shit and thought my voice would matter. If these tunes make another person the least bit happy… that will make me happy. If you hate them, then my job is done ;)

The song sin-ache has a lot of distorted voice. It's from a really old degraded tape. I was also experimenting with distortion on voice, but it has gotten worse. I also was sloppy late last night mixing it down and it clipped. I should probably try to convert the stereo master version I made years ago instead. It is much cleaner. Oh well.
The "No Idea" is a long listen at over 5 minutes. Not many get past the first 20 seconds or less. It was an experiment of my new then SPX90 effects box. I was just messing around.
The "Out to Lunch" one was my attempt to do a backward guitar song. Note how I use the same silly drum track for this as Sin-Ache. Good old Roland TR505.
No sequencers. The only thing "loopy" is the drum machine. I never expected to do "No Idea" or "Out to Lunch" in a band, but wanted to try Sin-Ache. Use real drums and have a true bass line. Oh well.
Love, hate, or dismiss these as you will. If you even give any a try, that makes me happy. I actually have a few likes! Imagine that. I few people actually like this shite! ;)

I like the punk feel of Phil's Getting Married best. The play of balance adds to the fun and the Mick mimic doesn't hurt. Love the humor in Sin- Ache too. Part of why I can't like rap is it takes itself too serious, so much so it sounds comical to me. This could grow on me.

Thanks Tocky for taking a listen. These were tunes I did waaaaaay back in the 1980s. I love how you get the humor part of Sin-Ache. I was trying to tell my friends, "Yes I am a fucking pain in the ass, but let me tell you that the world is on fire!" I also dig that you like "Phil" the best. It is my favorite. I was too much of a pussy cat to play it at his bachelor party. I should have. I would now, but I was a young apprehensive little waif. Next week, I am teaming up with an old buddy and going to cut some new tracks. These will be more Beatles sounding, with shades of Jethro Tull thrown in for fun. Man, I am stoked you listened! Bitchin' :)

At least 4 of them have turned into discussion about dicks.
We're on the right path.

Now we have to turn the other four into discussion about vaginas, and we'll have it made.
Tocky on 4/3/2016 at 02:37
Always happy to do my part where vaginas are involved.
