South Dakota abortion ban. Thoughts? - by fett

Well I am out of this one from the start.
Why?
Well, when I was 16 my girlfriend at the time got pregnant ( by me I hasten to add ) and when we told her parents her stepdad said " I aint having any screaming kids in my house " , so any choice was taken away from us - she had an abortion - I can remember her coming out of the hospital, coming home, going to the toilet, screaming, and depositing something on the rim that looked like liver - not nice, especially for her.
Also, I now have two lovely boys that are my life - nuff said,
and lastly cos I have seen (accidently - believe me ) pics of aborted babies on Ogrish - I looked for a second and it was enough. How would I describe them in one word? ......... TORN!!::( ... as in Apart ).
Brings back a mixture of bad memories ... and happiness (cos my sons are the other half of me - or a third if you want to be pedantic ;) )

Yep. At it's more balanced majority, this is the driving philosophy of the pro-life position. The disciplinary angle and 'control' of women seems to be confined to the fringes - your ultra-conservate, live in the woods with a gun types.
The feminist movement intimately tied the right to an abortion with the 'right'to for a woman to freely express a womans sexuality.(Meaning she could emulate the irresponsible behaviour of irresponsible men). The right to an abortion levels the playing field as it were as women could opt to chuck the consequences of their actions down a garbage can and be as 'free' from them as many irresponsible men.A society which cherished life would not encourage either behaviour.

Oh those evil feminists! Bring back the chastity belts! Punish those wanton women who want to have evil, filthy sex and ENJOY it!
If men have the right to fuck around, women must have the exact same right - that's equality. It's up to the individual whether s/he wants to behave like that.
You also seem to forget that one can express sexuality in a responsible manner, too (BC).

Haha this thread is such a mess.

You know, the same way a pro-war blogger defends the necessity of war, while other people are the ones doing the dying in the real world.

To me, where you fail is when you seem to think that the only thing that matters for supporting or not abortion is one's conception of what a fetus exactly is.
Okay, what do you think is the more important reason(s)?

Maybe I was a bit too cryptic with that. Let me rephrase :
"To me, where you fail is when you seem to think that (your) moral standards are what matter most for supporting or not abortion"
What would matter most, IMHO (and as I said in a previous post), is a serious statistical analysis on what is the 'best' solution (best = long term life expectancy & living standards for either/both the mother and the child) and make it the law.

Evil filthy sex are your words and perhaps it is you who forgot that people can express their sexuality responsibly.
So many rights we have yes!The fact that both women and men can fuck around is a reality, not a right at least not a right thats granted by any governmental body.

Good to see that there are people who aren't prone to overreaction.

Well, that completely blows the argument that no pro-war bloggers are soldiers that I didn't make out of the water.

In retrospect, I possibly should have aborted this thread.
