Good point, fett.
Perhaps those pro-lifers should be encouraged to take a long hard look right now. Orphanages are overcrowded & underfunded. People in poverty stricken areas continue to give birth to one child after another even though those families are living a hand to mouth existences as it is. Yeah, let's bring another couple hundred thousand unwanted babies into this world. Only from now on, let's make those very same pro-lifers be
personally responsible for those babies, financially, morally, etc., from birth until those kids are old enough to strike out on their own.
P.S. And what page does the Song of Solomon start on?
My question to you then is... would you rather grow up in the shits and poverty and have a chance 18 years later to make something of yourself and perhaps make a difference? or would you rather not even try? I think most people would choose the former.

I'm not aware of any research into it - (
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/05/26/1085461838851.html?from=storylhs) however the (then opposition leader) "Labor leader Mark Latham quoted in Parliament a 2003 cabinet submission, recently leaked, that suggested fortnightly payments rather than lump sums might be a better form of payment for teenage mothers... Backbencher Roger Price, who led Labor's attack after Mr Latham put his stamp on it with a cautiously worded question, said that for people in his and many other electorates, the $3000 lump sum was "temptation".
So you have politicians on your side of the fence sounding off on the same talking point. That's about 2 steps above pointing to another internet post as evidence.

I'm officially retiring from this thread since demagouge and RBJ answered most of my original questions and the rest of this shit is boring me to death.
Carry on. :thumb:

And I'm sure that "Leslee Unruh, president of the Alpha Center, a Sioux Falls pregnancy counseling agency that tries to steer women away from abortion" is the most objective person to comment on this issue.

no YOU don't understand what arbitrary means

Uhh...actions (sex) have cosequences (baby). If you are not prepared to accept the consequence (baby), you shouldn't be having sex. It's really just that simple.
So many people speak of their "rights." I hear very few speak of their "responsibilites." As a society we really can't have one without the other. If you choose not to accept the consequences of your actions...if you can't act responsibly...well the you don't deserve to have any rights.
So stick that in your bong and smoke it!:)

Treating pregnancy as some sort of lesson is rather idiotic.

If you are not prepared to accept the consequences (fatal accident), you shouldn't be driving a car.
If you are not prepared to accept the consequences (obesity), you shouldn't be eating dessert.
If you are not prepared to accept the consequences (alien invasion), you shouldn't be broadcasting radio waves into space.
If you are not prepared to accept the consequences (ridicule), you shouldn't be posting asinine things on the Internet.
Love how this is gonna drag into a "whether or not people should have sex for fun" thread, because once in a while I lose my scorecard that reminds me who can't get any, who isn't getting any, and who wouldn't know any if it shoved a finger up their arse.
And of course at least one asshat will make us all feel really sorry for his imaginary wife by declaring that he's happily married and he still feels that sex isn't supposed to be a recreational activity. Extra points for claiming his imaginary wife feels the same way.

Damn straight. And for the record, I'm just one that isn't getting any (for the next three months). Pity me.

1) I am, I do.
2) I don't...but still getting a few extra pounds 'round the middle from the pale ale.
3) That's a scary thought. I hope none of the news casts I did for the local AM will result in aliens at my door...but you never know do you.:erm:
4) Go for it. You don't scare me. Much.:cheeky:
