Yeah, either by using your audio driver for recording or do a video capture with Fraps and then extract the audio channel from the AVI file with a program like VirtualDub.

Simple audio editors like WavePad, GoldWave or Audacity wouldn't be easier?

That is where the audio driver comes in, set it to record the audio that is played on the computer rather than from a mic. Then start up an audio program and record at any time you want.
