Well, I have found an interesting Czech Stalker fansite, and holy joy, it offers the official soundtrack for download! They say it has been released for free, since GSC has decided not to add the soundtrack CD to Ukrainian Collector's Edition. I have been googling for mirrors elsewhere, but I haven't found any and that's strange.
I question legality of this - if you find any other site offering the sountrack for download, please post them around.
Compositions on the soundtrack are mostly crème de la crème of dark ambient, as we can hear in the game, even though in more fragmented form.
This is a good music to create strange moods. The last three tracks are by band/project called Firelake, their "Dirge for the planet" is that song which plays in many places in the game.

this is great! i tried to get the soundtrack from GSC's FTP a few weeks ago but non-russian users were locked out. thanks!

It's not on the soundtrack, but you can always record it for yourself from the menu.
