Great post! I love when FM's have these noisy bits in the background, which adds a lot of realism and life to a mission.

Have to agree with that. The crowd sound is so often done incorrectly. It either sounds extremely out of place, or then it just unimmersifies the gameplay with its flaws.

Regarding FMs, it depends on context. The soundtrack could be used in a cutscene or briefing. It could be used as background sounds in missions like LOTP from Thief 2, where the player may not explore street levels. Personally, I'm enjoying the OP because I like history.
