I am currently playing Deus Ex on a 32bit Vista system, and I noticed that for some reason, vocalizations in the game come out of all my speakers regardless of my position to the character. This is a very frustrating problem, because all other game sounds are positioned properly.
I have a 5.1 speaker system hooked up to an Audigy 2 ZS and I am using ALchemy. Is anyone else having this issue?

I have never had that problem, but you might want to try tinkering with the advanced options for audio. When you are in-game, press t and delete the text. Then type "preferences" without the quotes and press enter. IIRC when I played DX with surround sound, conversation voices came out of all speakers, but general barks (I.E. guards yelling at me) came out of the appropriate speaker.

oops, I forgot to mention that you have to make sure that the dsound.dll and dsound.ini files are in the root of ther thief folder for Alchemey to work.

Did you even read my post Biker?
As for the rest of you: Thanks for the suggestions, but editing the preferences unfortunately did not help.
(I posted another thread about a dithering issue, perhaps some of you have advice for that.)

are the dsound.dll and dsound.ini files in the game folder..? have you tried tweaking the ini file (some games require this)
