Hi,
i created a new schema (rising) under schemas_sfx.
It's a looping, streaming, ambient, unassigned schema. Metastorage is set to Hard Drive.
I use a .wav file and it's placed in the schemas_sfx folder.
When i go to the zone with that sound schema i hear nothing.
Any idea what's going wrong?

Are you runing the game full screen or windowed??? The sound only works if it's windowed.
Press Alt-Enter.

The sound works. Only the user defined schema did not work. :/

Has someone created a sound schema that actually plays?
I think that new sound schemas must be compiled into one of the schema metafiles. But that would make the distribution of user defined schemas difficult.
Under the utility/misc_perl folder there is a perl script for compilig the metafiles but i think we need all source sound files to compile the metafiles successful.
Maybe i just doing something wrong with my sound schema....

(speaking to myself)
What the....? I can use my sound schema on a AmbientSound actor but not as a streaming sound on a ZoneProperties actor. Can someone explain this?

I give it up. I tried various combinations in the settings, tried .wav and .ogg files, copied them everywhere in the t3ed folder and i come to only one conclusion.
YOU CAN'T USE A USER DEFINED SOUND SCHEMA AS A STREAMING SOUND ON A ZONEPROPERTIES ACTOR. That suxxs. :(
Maybe a bug or this was overlooked while changing t3/t3ed to play user defined sounds from outside the sound schema metafiles.

There's a schema editor built into the editor (tag database/sounds) but it takes about 15 minutes to load all the schemas, once the schemas are loaded you double click on the schema you want to edit that then opens a editor for that schema, then you assign your sound in that window... thats as far as I got.

In fact I never tested this. Our sound programmer no longer worked for us when doing the editor, and although he was helpful his responses to email, it's not the same thing as having someone sit down and go over everything by hand. I'm not saying it can't work, just that I didn't test it, so I can't tell you "It worked in editor beta testing".

Thanks, harwin, for posting something. :)
I tried to find a workaround but i had no luck.
I did some tests.
I used the sound schema m02subsonic which uses the subsonic.wav. So i renamed my .wav file into subsonic.wav and assigned the m02subsonic schema to a ZoneProperties actor. I started the map and i heard only the original subsonic.wav.
So it's clear for me that SoundStreaming works only with sounds from the sound metafiles.
Then i attached the m02subsonic schema to a AmbientSound actor and heard my .wav sound in the game.

So was this never resolved? Has anyone been able to use a custom sound as a zone ambient?
