You sound a lot like my brother, whom I've been trying to come to grips with for the past three or four years as he descends into a miasma of OCD, narcissism, paranoid delusions, and self-loathing. I guess the difference would be that you actually seem to be aware of your illness whereas he seems to genuinely believe his problems are caused by mould and lyme disease and bad parenting (at least at the moment those are what he believes in). Awareness is important, and in his case, I think if he could just admit to his problems, take responsibility for his abusive behaviour, and stop blaming everyone and everything but himself, he could maybe start to get better through a combination of psychiatry, therapy, and eventually family support (but he's too hostile to be around right now).
I have a problem with statements like this:
Quote:
I have an abnormal amount of empathy (not to mention intelligence), and it makes it--lemme make an understatement--difficult to live in a society with an abject and increasing lack of both.
because it's not society's fault that you have an illness. It's not societal conditions that are preventing you from becoming an artist; it's your own mental health. You don't discuss what steps you've taken to get better, but can I suggest checking yourself into some kind of mental health clinic? Lots of things are at least treatable if you're willing to try and treat them.

Aja, your post is so full of snide disingenuous bullshit I can't respond to it except by telling you how to fix it: Stop using the comparison with your brother as a sneaky way to avoid being accused of false accusations against me. The only similarity between your description of him and me is that we have OCD and we (to *some* extent) blame society for being mentally ill. Address me and my situation, not your brother's, when giving me advice. By the way, I am seeing a psychiatrist. I also went to a therapist reluctantly and as expected she didn't know how to respond to my situation because I'm not a simple retard.
