You know, I don't remember anything like this since the Edsel hype. The 'New Coke' ad campaign fiasco doesn't even come close.

Unfortunately I am going to have to agree. I cannot see how much good can come of this - even with patching. Knowing where TTLG came from does not in any way make this better. I know compromises need to be made - something no gamer - though begrudgingly - has to admit. But the results that are DX:IW ... ah well some fun pics is what I guess we get :erg:

The New Coke fiasco was based on normal people's outrage - not children on internet forums being angry.

At the time of the 'New Coke' ad campaign fiasco, the PC was just barely in the world, let alone the world wide web, & few, if any, took the hype seriously or gave a good goddam one way or the other anyway. It was perceived as nothing more than typical Madison Ave HORN BLOWING JUST TO GET OUR ATTENTION. Unfortunately, until the DE:IW demo was released upon the world, many of us did give a good goddam & did give Eidos, Ion Storm, Warren Spector & crowd credit for being sincere, believing them to be more credible than Madison Ave. At least everyone was laughing during the 'New Coke' thing. Even those hyping it couldn't keep a straight face when touting the new & improved carboanted water beverage. Eagerly awaiting the next iteration of the DX series, we foolishly bought into the hype. Yeah. We should've known better.
This is what it feels like to get kicked in the nuts by Eric Cartman.
