Oh wow, I thought for sure it'd get delayed till next year. I'll wait for reviews before buying, also curious if it'll be the same experience on Quest vs PC.

Hey guys, got your headsets ready? There's a new Thief game being released in 3 days. Exciting, isn't it? First one in 11 years.
It will be very interesting to see not only this community's reaction to this thing, but also the general gaming world as a whole and the niche VR crowd as well.
(Btw, you can currently get a Quest 3S for about $250, or a PSVR2 for $300).

Wish I could play it but I don't have the budget for extras like that. :(

Maybe a little underwhelming, but we'll see.

Really looking forward to this, I got a used Quest 2 headset last December for real cheap and have had tons of fun with it as a PCVR headset.
My only worries with Thief VR are that it'll focus too much on connecting the trilogy to the 2014 game's stuff with Northcrest and the Primal rather than a story that can stand on its own. I'm not too worried about the game itself since I know there's certain design decisions that have to be taken into account when developing for VR and as long as the overall experience is fun, I can look past any shortcomings it has as a Thief game.
But from what I've seen so far from trailers and previews, I'm optimistic.

My view on this game is that it's obviously not going to wow old Thief fans for many of the reasons discussed in this thread, but on the other hand it's only £20.
I've been into VR gaming for a few years now, and we're not exactly spoiled for choice, in fact the majority of games I've played are ports of old PC games.
Just playing a Thief game in VR is going to have SOME value, even if only novelty, so I've already preordered it, and will start playing tomorrow.
If anyone is getting a headset, try to stretch to a Quest 3 - the pancake lens optics, clarity, resolution, and especially the field of view, is far superior to the older version or the 3S.
If you get a halo strap you can remove the face guard, get your eyeballs as close to touching the lenses as possible, and get a huge boost in vertical and horizontal FoV.
That's really only possible in the Quest 3 due to the quality of the lenses.

No reviews yet, even tho it's launch day. Guess there's an embargo on it, which is a tad worrying. I'll wait till at least tomorrow before picking it up, and get into it this weekend (unless reviews are downright horrible).

Yeah, saving $4 isn't worth it if it releases in a broken state. As long as it's not broken I'll probably pick up right away; it'll be worth it just to hear Stephen Russell again. But the embargo doesn't inspire confidence.
