Not sure how the lock picking is meant to work, vibration feedback?
There are lots of ways in VR, from controller's joystick rotation to the physical arm rotation.

Crouch walking might be a literal pain to do for an entire game.
As a rule, the crouching in VR is usually doubled with a button pressing like in flat games if physical crouch is implemented in the game.

People who aren't familiar with the state of modern VR games should be aware that apart from a few notable standouts, most of them are significantly scaled back in scope compared to so-called AAA games from big-name publishers. So it's a given, I think, that Thief VR will be a small-scale game without fancy graphics or the huge variety of bigger-budget titles like Deadly Shadows. But honestly, as someone who's been gaming for like 35 years, VR feels more spirited, innovative, and exciting than much of the mainstream because devs are forced to do more with less. There's also an indescribable difference between seeing this on a flat screen and seeing it in 3D at full scale.
Well said! Especially the last sentence. Also, some RL physical actions like climbing, aiming, changing ammo, throwing, peeking out (!) etc. add a ton to the immersion factor.

Probably the best deal at the moment is the Quest 3S. ~350€. Standalone, but you can also connect it to a PC and play Steam titles.
I would not recommend it. Q3S uses old Q2 Fresnel type lenses, which are far inferior in terms of optics quality / sweet spot size compared to pancake lenses Q3 uses. IMO, it's better to add another 150 and get proper Quest 3. Lots of great and fun standalone games there too even if Thief VR appears a flop, one doesn't need any additional hardware like PC or console to play them.

It also would be great if someone did a standalone VR mod to run original Thief1/2 on Meta Quest, like they did for Doom1/2/3, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, it shouldn't be too hard. Would love to explore that oid Bafford manor again, but this time in VR and without any cords, just headset and controllers. Want to bludgeon Benny more personally with my hand )

The 3D is something awesome in VR, but what really gets me is the controls.
The possibility to twist your arm and do some shots in crazy angles.
Having said that, most game ether use the stick click, b, or just moving the analog stick down.
For lockpick, AC Nexus made the best one that i saw in date.

Later in the game there are more rings to push, so you do the angle, and push the pick to the next ring until all of them align and the lock opens. By push i mean physically move your hand forward.

I've never been that interested in VR before, but this looks fascinating.
I've been meaning to get a VR headset for over 10 years. Resident Evil 7 was made with VR in mind.
I finally picked up a PSVR2 so I can play this when it releases, and finally went back and played RE7/RE8 and plenty of other VR games.
VR is a completely different experience to flat gaming and I'm glad I finally got into VR. Horror games especially are way better.

When I bought mine half a year ago it came bundled with Batman: Arkham Shadow, probably the best VR stealth game at the moment, buuuut... I don't think that's bundled with the headset any more?
I got a PSVR2 used on eBay for $240. Works perfectly fine.
Playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR with the Luke Ross mod is an amazing experience, and I already finished the game flat multiple times. Its like walking through a real city

If you're into horror, I recommend Madison VR on PSVR2. Easily the most scary and stressful horror game I've ever played.

legacy of shadow?, what its only one shadow, not shadows, ohh and yeah thief 3 used deadly shadows, they could not be a bit more creative?
also garrett is no longer tofu since thief 2 so i am disappointed
people think when you jump from a far distance to a rope arrow and fling off "they think its a bug" but in reality its garretts tofu body "firm" that causes it so its normal, the look up tech works to fix it
