If you could change 1 thing in the DeusEx game, plot, what would it be? Would you like to have Gunther on your side when you assault Area 51?
But remember only 1 change.

Gunther would indeed be a great ally.

If I had to change one single thing to Deus Ex, mmmhhh... I'd say there should have been one ending dedicated to the Unatco. One way where you chose not to betray Manderley and Co....
It's not very ethical, but JC should be given a real, tough choice. Because the first time you reach the moment when you chose to be the enemy and join the NSF, you're not sure whether it's the good thing to do.
Erm. Let me rephrase that. You know you're chosing the right way because there's no way you can chose the wrong way.

Re: Allowing the player to stay with UNATCO -
Basically agree - however,
a thorough player will have overwhelming evidence (via emails and the sewer rescue sub-mission) connecting Walton Simons, Manderley, MJ12, and the Grey Death long before he learns of Paul's defection.
But then again, Carter stayed at UNATCO, even though he knew it was corrupt. I can't remember his reasoning exactly, but I believe he thought that so long as good people stayed, the organisation should be able to survive. Perhaps if JC had stayed on... you never know.
I personally would have liked the choice to ignore Paul when you meet him at the 'Ton and not send the NSF message, but that would have required a helluvalot of extra work from the ISA guys, and would have been impractical. You'd miss like, half the game. But still, the choice would have been nice :cheeky:.

To change the game to add a "Stay at UNATCO" option you don't just change the game after the point you chose, you'd just stick in more references to "Terrorist propaganda" to make the player wonder what the hell is going on. Then when you go to leave for Hong Kong you could just go and do whatever they wanted you to do (Take down the Triads?). Then you'd get to take down the Illuminati and Sillhouette wipe out the X-51 people and so on.... It would be a massive ammount of extra work to have this play option though.
The biggest thing I'd bloody change would be that opening cutscene. Christ they tell you exactly whats going on right then and there! I knew exactly who was the bad guy and what was going on. There was no "Oooh whats going on". As soon as you see Simons you just wanna cap his sorry ass then and there.

I was really looking forward to assasinating Tracer Tong. There really isn't any assasination mission in the game, unless you consider
the Illuminati ending killing Bob Page.
I'd agree with Master Villain - removal of the initial cutscene, for the same reasons.

Another vote for "play the bad guy". I was terribly dissapointed when I realized that I couldn't skip the NSF warning message when I played through the second time. I even tried taking Paul out with various lethal and non-leathal weapons, but to no avail.
The other feature sorely missing was getting Mercedes to "dance" with you in HK. ;) That girl can really handle her liquor!! I'm just glad there was a seemingly endless supply of electronic cash to be had...

well, besides the ever popular "Stick with UNATCO and be da hero" option that's already popular enough, i would have liked to see the sunshine or early morning once in a while. the whole game feels as though it's all spent in the same night, and although it makes it pretty immersive, it removes a lot of realism.
it's lose/lose really..

I was crushed when I could not
a) do the Russian broad
or
b) just slap her upside the head
