I have a few questions:
1. What's the best setup for an awsome mage charecter?
2. I have heard rumors of a powerful artifact that increases your magica 5x your inteligence. Are these rumors true, and if so, where can I find this artifact (I heard it's in Bloodmoon somewhere)?
3. Has the gold edition of Morrowind come out on X-box yet (has Morrowind+both expansions)?

Can't help much with 1 or 2 (don't have bloodmoon and I haven't played a pure mage character, will at some point I think).
As for #3, I think that it's scheduled for November (got it on pre-order from EB).

1.) A Battle Mage type char... One weapon of choice, one armor of choice, then three magic types of your choice. For minor, you might want either block, athletics or acrobatics, then the last four magic types. I'd recommend Destruction as a major attribute. Then Enchant to save money, and illusion... But... I've never created a mage char... *shrugs*
2.) Should be moved into spoiler section.
Yes, there is. It's called the Mantle of Woe. Go to the Skaal Village and look around for a well. Bring up the local map if you can't find it. There will be a door that leads to a cave. At the end is the man who wears the Mantle. It has a lot of bad side effects which you can counter.. but only with some work and money.
What sort of side effects?
RyushiBlade on 21/9/2003 at 05:40
Mostly Sun Damage. And a LOT of it. You can counter it with a few CE Restore Health items. Also it drains personality by 30 points. I can't remember what else though.

Just don't put it on until you go indoors, where most of your fighting takes place anyway. Then you should have no problem with the sun damage. Make sure you take it off before you talk to anybody, to get rid of the huge personality drain.

Although by the time you get it losing 30 personality shouldn't be much of a disadvantage anyway
so is it worth it for a mage to use this mantle?
RyushiBlade on 21/9/2003 at 20:23
Yeah. Extremely... er.. worth it. I tried it out a while ago and with a High Elf's magicka boost, the sign of the Atronach and the Mantle of Woe, you get... umm... well... I forgot. But I think it's around 1000 points of magicka. That isn't including any INT boosts (through CE items and such.)

My Breton mage is set up thus:
Sign: Atronach
Major skills:
Destruction
Restoration
Illusion
Speechcraft
Security
Minor skills:
Light armor
Long Blade
Athletics
Alteration
Mysticism
You might wanna replace the weapon skill with short or blunt. Other than that, it is an excellent setup. I use magic for everything, no 'cast on use' items except for a robe. With 200 int, I have a Magicka pool of 700, plenty for whatever I need to do.
