Each 15 levels of Alchemy will let you see 1 property of an ingredient and 2 properties of a potion. Since an ingredient can have a maximum of 4 effects you'll get to see all of them at level 60 Alchemy. Also if you have below 15 Alchemy you won't be able to see what ingredients or potions do.

PART VII!
I have Conjuration and Restoration as minor skills. I didn't see any extra spells given to me so I assume that spells involving summoning or curing will be more effective?
Zaphod on 4/12/2003 at 16:56
Correct.
Upping your skills in certain areas does not give you "extra" spells in those areas. Upping your Restoration and Conjuration skills will make it easier for you to cast more powerful spells in those disiplines. But you still have to buy or create the spells.

Always thought it does. Like how choosing your star sign adds extra skills. Well looks like I have to divide the drakes between training and scrolls...
Is there any way at all to have "permanant" spells? Like when you choose an orc, you always have berserk.

Look for someone who as the "spells" item at the top of the conversation menu (up there where "barter" goes).... selecting that will give you a list of the spell you can learn from that person (for a price).
Once bought you can select it and cast it (like any other magic). (some spells will fail depending on how good you are at it's field, how smart you are, etc.)
You can also make your own variants of spells using the "spellmaker" option on some characters. It uses the spell effects that you know to make new spells. i.e. - you have a spell of fireball (fire damage 5' on target, or something like that)... you can make any sort of fire damage (on touch, on target, 0-??? area, x to y points of damage).
Final note.... some abilities/spells that your character comes with doesn't appear to apply to the known spell effects. This happened with my first character, but I can't remember what it was.

PART VII! OR VIII!
If running increases athletics and jumping increases acrobatics, what do I have to do to increase heavy and medium armor? And am I right in saying repairing apparels by myself increases my armorer skill?
Only major magic abilities gain you default spells? My last character had conjuration in minor and got nothing. Now I placed it under major and I received bound dagger and summon ancestral spirit.

Armor skills are increased by being hit while wearing the appropriate type of armor.
Your starting spells are given out based on what you can cast with at least some success, chosen from a small list of preselected spells. Thus the higher your spell skills, Luck and Wisdom, the more spells you start with.

Does any one know where the best longbow is?.
Forsythe on 1/1/2004 at 22:32
Best unenchanted bow I know of is the daedric longbow; here's a pretty good description on how to get it: clicky
(Basically, find the 'lost' ebony mine as described, then tell Dram Bero in Vivec about it and he'll give you your pick of a number of daedric weapons)
Or, if you have MW on PC, you can download an official mod that adds a bowyer to Vivec... and I think she has one for sale (I know she has one you can steal, if nothing else)
Jordana on 1/1/2004 at 23:10
Bowyer? Is that what they're called? :laff: Anyway, she has got one hanging on her wall, but I got my ass kicked when I tried stealing it (damn that Ordinator standing in the corner, damn that squeaky Bosmer voice sounding the alarm) After several tries I gave up and just bought it honestly. Well, almost honestly; I did use the console to add the asking price to my inventory :cheeky:
