Hey gents, hoping you guys can help out.
I was trying to play System Shock 2 coop a few days ago with my housemates. We were all running the same version, and had SHTUP and Crion's Impossible Difficulty Mod enabled, as well as the bug fixes that come with the 2.7 SS2 Tool (3.5 was giving me some problems).
All 3 computers were running Windows 7, they can run single-player without a problem. Two of them (both laptops) could communicate fine, join games and play and etc, but the third (a desktop) couldn't connect with either of them. Tried messing with some ports on the router, disabling firewalls, even tried both Himachi and Tunngle, but to no avail. The desktop doesn't have a ethernet port, so I was unable to try cat5'ing them together.
I'm really hoping I just missed something simple, so - any ideas?

This sounds quite familiar .. some times back I had problems joining any games warcraft starcraft system shock 2 ... just everything .. and then i found on one website a solution to almost all IPX LAN etc.. problems ....
I am going to say how in Windows XP but it should work the same in Windows 7 maybe just different commands ..... most of my "unable to join game" or not see the game was Avast or some other antivirus and firewall ... so disable this ... but these programs are nasty and even if you right click and turn off they are still on ... so if you go run-> services.msc -> you will find a list of running programs and there you turn off firewall and also antivirus ... and voilá .. now you can see or join very easily.
Best of luck

Can you access shared folders on these laptops from desktop w/o problems (and can you also successfully ping your desktop from laptops and vice versa) ? May be your desktop's ip somehow is in another subnet?
