Edit: Got.

I'm definitely interested in this, but I'm going to sit back and see if the kinks get ironed out by the early adopters first. €55 is a fair bit of money to throw at something if it doesn't end up superseding my 360 pad.

I'm curious as well; it might make for a nice way to control my new HTPC (once it's set up), but yeah, at present it does cost a bit much for something that might be a great accessory once you're used to it but that might just as well be a nice idea that doesn't really work all that well in practice.

While I originally purchased a controller to play DS (currently using an F710 (PS Controller)) I've found that I often prefer using it over M+K for many games these such as The Walking Dead, Don't Starve, Spin Tyres etc. It still sucks somewhat for most FPS games though so am interested in hearing how the Steam controller fares with games such as FC2-4 and DXHR for example.

I also got one for DS and found the same thing. It allows for a far more comfortable posture than the standard hunched over a keyboard one.

I got mine a few weeks back and it took some getting used to, but it's absolutely the goods. Spent pretty much all of Thanksgiving weekend playing Borderlands 2 with it and tweaking my settings slightly until it works how I want, and I fucking love it. Clicked for me when I cracked off five headshots in rapid succession using the tilt.
The only niggles with it I have are that the bumper buttons are too stiff and a little awkwardly shaped, and I really wish I could assign spinning along the edge of one of the trackpads to work as a mousewheel without having to sacrifice a button to be a mode shift.
I also love that I just have to push the Steam button once to turn it on, push it again to open Steam, then push it once more to turn Steam to Big Picture mode.

The logo button on my Logitech 510 also opens Steam Big Picture mode, so possibly there's something in Steam's settings?

I didn't have to do anything, it was automatic as soon as I hooked it up.

I just got mine and the first day verdict is this: you'll hate it at first and think it's totally awkward and unusable. Once you ease into it and get into the configurations you'll grow to love the level of control it offers. One lesson I've learned is to not trust either Valve's or the community's bindings. They are almost always wrong and you have to tweak the controls to match your preferences, or else you'll think the controller sucks.
Steam hardware is supposed to compete with consoles, right? If you have to put work into getting games to play right then Valve has already failed and won't crack that market. Convenience and simplicity is the king in the console world.
