That's the nice thing about low-res 2D games -- they still look good because they don't saunter over to the the uncanny valley and straddle it in an attempt to teabag all the technological advances that came out in the last 15 years. The other reason they're made, obviously, is because the developers don't have to expend as much time, money, and energy on art if they were to try and compete with something on the level of, say, Rayman: Legends.
Whereas a crap-looking N64 game is going to look like shit whether it's high- or low-res, and deliberately running it at a resolution where it looks like M.C. Escher threw up over your screen isn't going to change that.

Do you even realize how little sense you're making? I mean, look at the above quote. Yes, it's composed of words strung together in a grammatically valid fashion to form what can technically be considered a sentence. But attempting to parse that sentence into a coherent thought yields sheer nonsense. It's like a contrarian Markov chain.
