Thoughts on Deus Ex inspired game
Damage System:
I would like a realistic damage system where you can pinpoint parts of the body and damage them. The body would have a full skeleton, organs etc. Damage would be inflicted similar to Hunting Unlimted 3 where if you are hit in the lungs you would start to choke on your own blood in minutes unless you can regenerate the damage. I want accurate ballistics that take into account the levels of protection say if you were wearing a high level body armor it would reduce the damage or stop it depending on the weapon used (the skeletal aug would play a part in damage recieved). I want to be able to wing and arm and have the NPC's drop whatever weapons they were carrying, also when they get shot in the arm it would cause them pain and would instinctly hold the wound (tougher NPC's maybe able to ingnore the pain, especialy if they have pain management augmenations etc). Also the ability for the bones to shatter, say when an high power rifle is fired at there leg, they would not have the use of that limb until it was repaired.
The weapon used would determine what would happen a high velocity round would be able to smash straight through unarmored body and go through whatever it comes into contact. Whereas a crossbow would be less likely to smash a bone but would stick into whatever it strikes causing blood loss.
I would like the player to have the ability to use hand to hand comabat system, so with high levels you could smash ribs and break bones. Also at high strength levels you can grab someone and throw them.
I would like realistic damage as it opens up many areas, like slapping around some punk you need to get info out of.
Skill System:
Weapon skill (The ability to maintain, modify your weapon, the accuracy would be determined by the accuracy of weapon and operator skill)
Computers Skill (At the lowest level would give you the ability to input codes and read emails at higher levels you would able to higher level hacking, there would also be a number of hacking tools you could use)
Electronics Skill (The ability to modify electrical systems and bypass or re wire them to do diffrent things, there would be various tools to help you do this you would also be able to modify things to make your own tools (camera, power cell and transmitter you got yourself a remote camera etc)
Stealth Skill (The ability to remain hidden, quiet movement and also steath kills)
(There may be other skills to be thought of)
Augmentations:
All powered augs with drain energy from an built in energy cell network, with upgraded energy cells able to hold more charge. The energy system would slowly regenerate with time powered from your own body. You would also able to regenerate using powercells and other sources of power (with high electronics skill you could build a recharger using normal power outlets to recharge. (think "Batteries not incuded" LOL). Also each augmentation would effect you base stats,
Nano Augmentations Each upto ten power levels
Muscular Augmentation:
This affects Strength for lifting, melee combat and running speed. This aug would work by increasing the fiber strength of all the muscles so you have more strength per pound of muscle. The player would also able to increase the mass of these improved fibers by phyiscal training. Because of the extra stress on joints and skeleton you would cause damage to your body without Skeletal Augmentation. This aug wouldnt drain electrical energy but would drain your stamina.
For example if you added level ten Muscle Aug you would have massively increased strength and speed but you would damage your joints and skeleton, this can be repaired with the Healing Aug. But Without Skeletal Aug you would damage yourself until you break bones and cause less mobility or punctured organs etc.
Skeletal Augmentation:
This would comprise of upgrading the skeletal system with stronger Bones and adding protection for major organs. The higher the level the more damage your skeleton can take, ie falling from high places, bullets, blunt objects and sharp blades etc. Level 10 would able to withstand the highest level Muscle augs without damage. There would be no energy cost for this as it is passive. This would increase your skeletal hit points, if you legs are broken or shattered you will crawl until you heal yourself either with healing aug or medkits.
Healing Augmentation
You will be able to regenerate all damage to your body, there would be a hit points system for skeletal, muscle and organ damage. Higher levels heal more hit points and drain less energy.
There would also be some head Aug's that would effect the awareness of your player:
Basic vison augs would replace your eye with computerised eye that has inbuilt heads up display alowing for zoom, nightvision, thermal, acoustic positioning,
Gps map system, compass and a hud system to make you aware of your ammo health etc.
Vision, Nightvision, Thermalvision and zoom function (all vison augs range would inscrease with higher levels)
Hearing, The ability to hear though walls and the heads up display that would overlay where the sound was coming from.
Brain, All skills would be improved for quicker hacking, electronics etc. the resistance to pain, toxic and gas would increase with the ability to overide the natural functions, so you would be able to overcome musclar and skeletal pain unitl you get it healed.
Weapons
I would like realstic weapons, there would be a balistics system that would take the weight and velocity of a bullet to determine the damage caused. The
trajectory of the weapon would also be taken into account (although at higher weapon skill levels you would automaticly take that into account so it would play less part). the system would work similarly to "Hunting Unlimted 3" as they have quite a good balistics system.
I would like different bullets available for example:
Mercury Filled Bullets for really good damage to biological targets
Armor piercing rounds
Diffrent weight bullets too so you can have a lighter bullet for higher velocity so you get less bullet drop over distance (the balistics system could take this into account as it works on velocity and bullet weight to determine damage)
Higher power powders (this would increase damage condition of weapon as it would be out of tolerance)
The weapons themselves would have various modifications that could be applied:
Longer barrels (for increased velocity and accuracy)
Bigger magazines
Lights
Scopes (there would be scopes that you can hook upto your own heads up display)
laser Sights (in different colors)
Different trigger groups (full auto, semi auto, burst etc)
Porting and compensators (to reduce recoil and muzzle lift)
Weapons would consist of
Pistols
Submachine Guns
Assualt Rifles
Rifles
Explosive (grenade, rocket launchers etc)
Experimental Weapons (??? :) )
plus and assortment of melee weapons, thrown and bows etc.
This is a work in progess and alot of it is inspired by other games (most notably Deus ex and system shock), what do you guys think. I hope one day to get the funds to put my own game together and i would love to see other games like Deus ex, system shock and Thief being made. I think the game makers need to have a better enviroment to work in less deadlines and money hungry "suits" telling them what to do and more free reign on what they create. Can you imagine what Deus ex would have been like had it not been for bad managment and deadlines.
Also i would like to be able to have the funds to bring together the great modders who put together cassandra project, redsun2020 and zodiac (plus many more) in a free enviroment. Wouldnt it be great to see what those guys could do full time, maybe each group making there own game.

hey :). the double line jumping thing was becuase i copied it from note pad where i wrote it and when i pasted it into the forum it looking like that. I decieded to leave it like that because i thought it looked easier to read :)
