The Game of the Year box set includes 4 discs = the original game & the two expansions, or M + T + B. The 4th disc (actually, disc #2 in the jewel case layout) is labeled 'Constructions Set'. However, when installing the 1st disc, Morrowind, the TES Construction Set is also installed from that 1st disc.
What is on/in the GOTY #2 disc labeled 'Construction Set'? Anything about which I should be concerned starting over fr scratch in Morrowind? FWIW, I've also installed the T & B expansion discs & have no MW experienced character w/which to jump right into either of the expansions.
Lastly, this GOTY ver is already all patched up to ver v1.6.1820. Is there a no-cd crack for this patch? Or is it not needed to get around the original game release Safe Disc slow down hooha? Or do i need to futz w/the FPS Optimizer mod/plug-in to get past the Balmora pauses?

You may as well throw away the other three disks; disk two is the one that will keep you transfixed! :joke: …Well, you will need the other three to test your creations.
The construction set is the game editor. You are in possession of the same software that the developers used to create Morrowind. It is a very powerful resource and you can wield it to achieve good…or evil. [Sorry, I can be a bit over dramatic when I am unemployed.] You needn’t wield it at all if you chose not to. Plug-ins (mods) you will soon discover if you haven’t already are created by other players using the game editor. The actual game editor may have loaded with your installation, the disk is mostly an inventory of graphic files that a modder may need to access. The disk is in no way necessary for your playing of the game. What may be necessary since you are starting as a first level character with the installation of Tribunal will be a little cover from assassins. In general, I think that it is better to become familiar with the Morrowind World before loading yourself down with a bunch of plug-ins, however I (and many others) have a mod that will delay the initiation of Tribunal until your character is better developed to handle it. You may download my version (Dark Brotherhood Attacks) from (

As for the no-crack CD business, I don’t know. I don’t dabble in quasi-legal matters :ebil: . Welcome to Seyda Neen!

Hmm... I've made quite a few characters and only two of them have had serious trouble with the assassins at the beginning (my first one, when I was totally lost and didn't know how to do things, and my "pacifist" test character.... Not a very successful test. ;)
As for cracks... I quote forum regs:

Follow your own advice.
What was acceptable in 2002 (the date of your referenced thread) is not necessarily tolerated in 2005 (the date of the most recent revision of the forum regulations). You are quite right–perhaps it is inappropriate for the administration to allow that thread to remain in light of the current forum philosophy. It was probably an oversight; an explanation I readily accept considering the most recent post is over three years old.

Originally the safe disk thing was a problem and using the no cd file gave an improvement. This has been changed in a patch, and is no longer a problem.
The CS disk you didn't use contains the non-compressed art files.

Striker: TY for divining my meaning re the no-cd hx of this particular game & for informing me of the contents of the don't-worry-I-paid-for-it GOTY #2 Construction Set CD. Apologies to Cyrano & Talgor but I am not an acned warez kiddie & all my sw is purchased fr legitimate retailers. Personally, I've no need of & wouldn't touch P2P sw w/a ten foot pole. Nonetheless, I unashamedly reserve the right to use no-cd cracks whenever available, as such practice complies w/my understanding of the 'fair use' concept.
But that's a whole 'nother pointless issue.
